A hypnotist can't hypnotise you, if you don't want to be hypnotised. He will need your willingness and cooperation in order to bring you to a stage of hypnotic trance. Do not be afraid of the word "trance" . It is not that kind of trance where you have lost your self awareness and consciousness, it is a state of focused concentration which you in fact are more alert than usual. At this stage, you are even more sensitive to things around you, you will find that you can hear things you have never paid attention to, such a clock ticking, sound from the air con blower and perhaps even the sound of a pin drop. At this stage, you in a focused concentration and yet fully relaxed mind, you will be best to accept suggestions given to you by the hypnotist. Even at this stage, you own fully your consciousness, suggestions which are not acceptable by you, will not have any effect on you.
But once the trust and cooperation built between you and the hypnotist, he will be able to guide you into a journey of hypnosis, where you will experience the wonders of your subconscious mind. Information or experiences kept away by your conscious mind can be surfaced, reasons of phobia, anxiety, unexplained habits, untying wrong doings, guilt, under performance or over perform (workaholic), unexplained fear, etc may surface and at this time, these issues could be resolved and hence have your issue solved.
