At the National University Heart Centre, Singapore (NUHCS), our goal is to provide world class, specialised and dedicated cardiovascular healthcare services that incorporate the best skills, clinical practice and equipment to make a difference in the lives of our patients. In all that we do, improving patients' quality of life is central to our mission. Since our establishment, we have developed 6 Core Clinical Programmes and achieved 2 Peaks of Excellence, cementing NUHCS as a comprehensive and holistic national centre for the screening, diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular diseases, complemented by long-term care and support groups for our patients. Comprising a team of internationally-recognised cardiologists and surgeons from the cardiothoracic and vascular specialties, NUHCS serves as a referral national centre for cardiothoracic and vascular conditions and provides a comprehensive approach to the treatment of these patients. The holistic patient-care approach is backed by leading translational research at the Cardiovascular Research Institute (CVRI) and Cardiovascular Metabolic Translational Program, all of which complements these advanced quaternary clinical services to deliver state-of-the-art treatment solutions to the most challenging heart, lung and circulatory diseases. NUHCS ranked top in Singapore for 3 consecutive years, from 2022 - 2024, for the specialty of Cardiac Surgery in Newsweek’s World’s Best Hospital Award. Core Clinical Programmes:

In this eye-opening Lianhe Zaobao 联合早报 episode of "世界大解说", reporters travel across Asia to uncover the real dangers behind va**ng — including the surge of illicit Kpods laced with illegal drugs.

Their findings echo the concerns of Prof Tan Huay Cheem, Senior Advisor, NUHCS, who highlights that e-cigarettes contain many harmful substances and should never be seen as a safe alternative.

At our NUHCS Women’s Heart Health Clinic, Health Coaches walk alongside women on their journey to better heart health — helping them gain confidence and build healthier lifestyle habits through personalised goal-setting. ✨

To understand the impact of health coaching, Christine Tioh, Sr. Case Management Officer, NUHCS, presented on a year-long study at NUHCS @ NUH and NUHCS @ AH involving women aged 45–65 — a group at higher risk of heart disease during menopause.

Her team’s research revealed that participants who received health coaching saw:
✨ Menopausal symptom improvements
✨ Better physical condition and energy level
✨ A stronger understanding of effective exercise

Proving that small, guided steps can lead to powerful change. ❤
