What time is it? It's Bingo time!

Typically conducted once a week at our 𝗦𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗼𝗿 𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗖𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗲, Bingo is one of the few table-top games that can be played in a larger group. Not only is it a game that trains the minds in terms of focus, memory and alertness in identifying the correct numbers called, it also engages their physical motor skills in the areas of hand-eye coordination as well as dexterity. It may not be as obvious from their expressions, but this game is definitely a hot favourite amongst our seniors!

In celebration of Grandparents' Day on November 23rd, kids from E-Bridge Pre-School came over to our Active Ageing Centre (Care) to have some fun with our members and celebrate the occasion! Participants young and old got to play some table-top ball games and enjoyed a healthy but very yummy fruit party. The children even prepared a special dance performance as part of showing their appreciation for their young-at-heart peers! Thank you kids for joining us in the celebration, and we hope everyone had a great time! 😊

The festive season has officially kicked off over here at our centre!
Earlier this month, kids from E-Bridge came over for a christmas crafting session with our AAC members, where the children teamed up and worked together with the seniors to make their own decorative christmas 'mug' using modelling clay, the base of recyclable plastic bottles and colourful paint. Even with just these resources, the combined creativity of everyone led to three very different yet ultra festive works of art that the seniors got to bring home with them. We hope everyone had fun during this jolly holly crafty session, and thank you to the kids from E-Bridge for stopping by!

Once in a while, our 𝗦𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗼𝗿 𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗖𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗲 is temporarily transformed into a fun classroom, where seniors get to stimulate their minds with simple math quizzes. The session becomes much more engaging as everyone tries to solve each equation, writing their answers on handheld whiteboards and presenting them like contestants in a game show. Such a dynamic setting adds an element of fun, making the activity more engaging and enjoyable and for all. 👨🏻‍🏫✍🏼

Yesterday, our centre started off the new week by welcoming guest speakers from En Community for some informative and educational talks exclusively for our members!

The session began with a Fall Prevention Risk Talk, where attendees learned about fall-risk awareness, as well as some useful tips on fall prevention and staying safe.

This was then followed by a Rest Note of Life talk, where speakers shared more about the philosophy of life being life music, where pauses are just as important as making our life full of colourful melodies; how the quiet moments in life amidst a busy and noisy world can help one be in tune with our emotions more deeply, and reflect on what truly matters in our lives.

🪔🌟 Thank you to everyone who joined our recent Deepavali celebration at Active Global @ Telok Blangah Parcview! From the bingo session to special dance performances, we hope everyone had fun and enjoyed the yummy Indian lunch buffet too!

Special thanks to the Joyous volunteer group as well as IAEC Indian Dance group for the super fun dance performances, and a big shoutout to the organising team for helping to make this celebration a successful one. Thank you everyone! ☺️

Besides the regular table-top colouring and puzzle games, seniors at our Senior Care Centre also get to enjoy and partake in other forms of fun activities, including Karaoke time. We may not have enough mics to go around for all, but rest assured that every senior gathered around the mic and screen were having a blast reminiscing to songs from an era they'd find familiar, and even singing along to the songs together!

Our centre recently concluded our annual Functional Screening cm Silver Carnival! Were you there?

This year's Functional Screening cm Silver Carnival event was held on 3rd October, located at both our centre as well as the Residents' Network (RN) space next door. The RN housed booths from partners including Singapore General Hospital, SG Digital Office, Silver Generation Office, CPF Board, NKF and more, sharing useful information ranging from personal wealth management to healthy living and personal safety to the seniors and residents.

Over at our centre, functional screenings were facilitated by Project Silver Screen for senior residents. At just a small subsidised fee, participants got to check that their eyes, ears and mouth were in good health, all in the convenient venue that was our active ageing centre.

Thank you to all our staff, partners and especially our participating seniors for joining us in this year's screening and carnival event! A special shoutout to our lovely volunteers as well for lending a hand in ensuring a smooth event for everyone! See you again next year 🙋🏻‍♀️🙋🏻🙋🏻‍♂️
