𝗥𝗲𝗰𝗮𝗽: our very first Craft & Bond @ Telok Blangah 🎨✂️

We are extremely honoured to have been the host for the inaugural Craft & Bond session, here at our active ageing centre! For this special activity session, our centre opened its doors to welcome not just our own members, but seniors from Goodlife Studio as well as NTUC Health too. Each participating senior had the opportunity to learn how to create three different Chinese New Year-themed crafts, each guided by a representative teacher from their respective centre. Everyone was able to take home their creations at the end of the session, after our lucky draw segment and enjoying some light refreshments.

Thank you to everyone from all 3 centres for making this event a very successful one; we hope you enjoyed it as much as we have! 🥰

Singapore is moving towards becoming a "super-aged society".

𝖶𝗁𝖺𝗍 𝗂𝗌 𝗆𝗂𝗇𝖽𝖿𝗎𝗅𝗇𝖾𝗌𝗌 𝗍𝗈 𝗒𝗈𝗎? 🧘🏼

Last week, we had a 𝗪𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗛𝗼𝘂𝗿: 𝗠𝗶𝗻𝗱 & 𝗥𝗲𝗹𝗮𝘅𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 workshop led by one of our very own volunteers Sumadi and her co-trainer Hai Ling! The session gave participants an introduction and a greater understanding of mindfulness and how it can help us by making it part of our everyday life. Participants were taught simple but powerful techniques such as the box breathing technique as well as body scanning, which can help one stay present and grounded, making them great inclusions in our daily routines to make the start or end or our days a little better. Thank you Sumadi and Hai Ling for the insightful session! ☺️

Special shoutout to Joyous volunteer group for putting together a series of song and dance performances to light up the festive mood over at our 𝗦𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗼𝗿 𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗖𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗲! With fun, colorful props, Christmas-themed outfits, and festive songs, familiar tunes are sure to bring back some fond memories and perhaps even create new ones too!

There's no better way to celebrate the last holiday before the new year, than with a huge festive celebration with everyone! 🎄⛄

From dance and ukelele performances by Joyous volunteer group and our very own ukelele class students respectively to a scrumptious lunch spread, it was an extra special celebration with much laughter and fun! Participants who were feeling extra festive also helped themselves to some karaoke afterwards. Thank you to everyone who joined - we hope you all had fun, and special thanks to Joyous volunteer group and ukelele group for the special performances! 💖

What time is it? It's Bingo time!

Typically conducted once a week at our 𝗦𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗼𝗿 𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗖𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗲, Bingo is one of the few table-top games that can be played in a larger group. Not only is it a game that trains the minds in terms of focus, memory and alertness in identifying the correct numbers called, it also engages their physical motor skills in the areas of hand-eye coordination as well as dexterity. It may not be as obvious from their expressions, but this game is definitely a hot favourite amongst our seniors!

In celebration of Grandparents' Day on November 23rd, kids from E-Bridge Pre-School came over to our Active Ageing Centre (Care) to have some fun with our members and celebrate the occasion! Participants young and old got to play some table-top ball games and enjoyed a healthy but very yummy fruit party. The children even prepared a special dance performance as part of showing their appreciation for their young-at-heart peers! Thank you kids for joining us in the celebration, and we hope everyone had a great time! 😊
