⚠️ Heading to Pet Expo this weekend? Here’s what to watch out for!
Big pet events are super fun — but with so many dogs gathered in one place, we often see a spike in coughs, diarrhoea, and GI upset after the weekend.
Here’s why 👇
🐾 High dog density → increased exposure to respiratory bugs (kennel cough, canine flu, etc.)
🍖 Lots of new treats → sudden diet changes → diarrhoea or vomiting
😋 Free samples everywhere → dogs eating things they aren’t used to
😬 Excited/stressed dogs → stress colitis
What you can do to keep your pet safe:
✔ Avoid sharing water bowls
✔ Bring your own treats/water
✔ Limit free sampling if your dog has a sensitive stomach
✔ Keep anxious dogs close and calm
✔ Monitor for symptoms afterwards
Signs to watch for (after the expo):
⚠️ Coughing / gagging
⚠️ Nasal discharge
⚠️ Lethargy
⚠️ Vomiting / diarrhoea
⚠️ Loss of appetite
If your pet shows ANY of these signs, come down to Acacia Vet Clinic for a check!
Early treatment = faster recovery and less spread to other pets 💛
