Why Gestalt Therapy? Why in Singapore?

Gestalt therapy is a time-tested modality of psychotherapy which began its gestation already in the late 1940s. It has deep roots in psychoanalysis. Its other pillars include existentialism, buddhism, psychodrama and bodywork. Modern day gestalt therapy is relational, dialogical and conscious of the ecological environment. We believe in the value of the individual (you and I) in relation and integration to the social and physical world we inhabit.

In practice, what I wish for my clients of gestalt therapy is to gain the confidence of being in the world, while being who they are, full of self-love and respect, with the confidence to provide love and respect to the world around them. Everything else, I believe, falls in place for such individuals.

Why did I choose Gestalt therapy?

I have been asked many times why I chose to specialize in Gestalt therapy. The answer is that Gestalt therapy found me. In my urgent search for answers to my existential questions, I made contact with the work of established Gestaltists led by Naranjo and Resnick. I was fortunate to have been in the right places at the right time.
