Hearing loss can shape how a child experiences the world. But with the right support, even the smallest sound can become something meaningful. đź’›

At KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital (KKH), healthcare professionals like Tiffany Lim, an Auditory-Verbal Habilitationist, work closely with children and their families, guiding them on their journey to turn sounds into words, and moments into milestones.

Just as important are parents and caregivers, who play a vital role every day. Through love, patience and everyday interactions, they help their child learn to listen, speak and connect with the world around them.

Because every “Mama” and “Papa” is never just a word, it’s the result of a shared journey between families and healthcare partners. ✨

Her eyes widened. She paused, a little confused. And then… a small smile. 💛

That was Hannah’s reaction when her Cochlear Nucleus® Nexa™ implant was switched on.

Just months earlier, her kindergarten teacher gently asked if she might be having difficulty hearing, after noticing she was reluctant to repeat new words in class. Her parents trusted that instinct and sought professional advice. After assessments and counselling, they decided to take the next step in Hannah’s hearing journey with bilateral cochlear implants. For many children, receiving cochlear implants in both ears may help support how they listen and learn in everyday environments.

At 3.5 years old, and just 5 days after surgery, Hannah experienced her switch-on moment — the beginning of many more beautiful hearing milestones to come.

Every child’s journey is different. What matters most is taking action early and seeking the right guidance for your family.

Individual results may vary.

Our Story

Hear now. And always.

As the global leader in implantable hearing solutions, at Cochlear Southeast Asia, we are committed to our mission to help people hear and be heard. Our story started more than four decades ago when Professor Graeme Clark pioneered the world's first multi-channel cochlear implant and created an entirely new treatment for hearing loss.

Since our formation in 1981, we continue Professor Clark’s work to help people with moderate to profound hearing loss experience a life full of hearing.

We have provided more than 600,000 implantable devices. Each recipient helps form a global community of millions, through families, friends, colleagues, teachers and more. And they’re not just connected to their own community — each shares a link with each other and to Professor Clark’s childhood desire to help people hear.
