This was a difficult conversation to have, from a personal and professional capacity.

From a personal persepctive, watching the scenes unfold on the field in Copenhagen, brought back memories of a very good friend and team-mate who collapsed from a sudden cardiac event and unfortunately passed away nearly 13 years ago.

From a professional medical perspective, watching the Danish medical team and the pitchside medical team's calm, coordinated response, reminded me that timely and appropriate simple interventions save lives.
This type of emergency scenario is what we prepare for, with every athlete, team or sporting event that we provide medical support to.

Chapeau to all those involved in saving Christian Eriksen's life!

My simple take home message to anyone reading this, is you can make a difference too.
- Take a day out of your schedule, get CPR and AED certified and save a life!

Dr O'Muircheartaigh believes it's vital for public to get basic first aid, CPR training to deal with emergencies like this.. Read more at straitstimes.com.
