Li-Fi and Wi-Fi are both wireless communication technologies, but they differ significantly in their operation and advantages. Here’s a comparison:

1. Speed – Li-Fi can achieve speeds of up to 100 Gbps, far exceeding the maximum 1 Gbps typically achievable with Wi-Fi.

2. Medium of Transmission – Li-Fi uses visible light for data transmission, whereas Wi-Fi relies on radio waves.

3. Security – Since Li-Fi signals cannot pe*****te walls, it offers enhanced security by reducing the risk of external interception.

4. Interference – Li-Fi is immune to electromagnetic interference, making it ideal for environments like hospitals and aircraft cabins. Also for transmission of information underwater which Wi-Fi is will not able to do

5. Coverage – Wi-Fi has a broader range since radio waves can travel through walls, while Li-Fi requires direct line-of-sight between the transmitter and receiver.

6. Latency – Li-Fi has lower latency, providing more stable connections for activities like video conferencing and gaming.

7. LiFi generally uses less energy than traditional Wi-Fi. LiFi utilizes LEDs to transmit data, which are inherently more energy-efficient than the components used in Wi-Fi routers and access points.

8. Health Benefits – Unlike Wi-Fi, Li-Fi does not emit electromagnetic waves, making it a potentially safer alternative for sensitive environments.

While Li-Fi offers impressive advantages, Wi-Fi remains more practical for widespread use due to its ability to function in various conditions. Li-Fi is expected to complement Wi-Fi rather than replace it entirely.

Statement on the Confirmation of Robert F. Kennedy Jr. as Secretary of Health and Human Services

Mr. Kennedy has been a leader in promoting environmental health and in helping to increase public awareness of the detrimental health impacts of wireless radiation on humans, flora, and fauna.

Mr. Kennedy partnered with EHT in the federal case Environmental Health Trust et al v. FCC, 2021, which resulted in the historic ruling that the FCC failed to explain its 2019 decision to retain its 1996 safety limits regarding wireless radiation exposure despite thousands of submitted scientific studies demonstrating negative impacts on the developing brain, reproduction, wildlife and the environment, children’s health, and a host of other injuries.
EHT look forward to Secretary Kennedy’s leadership on this and other topics at HHS, opening the door to a new era in wireless technology research and regulation.
