👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Include caregivers and helpers: Making sure helpers and caregivers are vaccinated helps protect those in your home who may be more vulnerable.

🩺 Ask your GP: If you’re unsure about your vaccination status, your family doctor can advise whether a check or vaccination is needed.

With news circulating about the Nipah virus (NiV) abroad, we want to help you stay informed.

Here is the bottom line: NiV is rare, but the symptoms often mimic a standard viral flu. If you have fever or body aches after returning from overseas, especially from India, it is always a good idea to consult a doctor early rather than waiting it out.

Pro-tip: When you visit the clinic, let your doctor know where you went and if you were in contact with animals (like pigs or bats) or raw date palm sap. This small detail helps us rule things out quickly and focus on your recovery.

📰 In the News: Dengue Cases Drop, But Dr Adrian Poh Urges Continued Vigilance

Thanks Lianhe Zaobao 联合早报 for inviting our Medical Director, Dr Adrian Poh (傅仲贤医生) to contribute his perspectives to their recent story on the improving Dengue situation in Singapore. In the article, Dr Poh commented that HMI OneCare Clinics have observed an estimated 20-25% decrease in Dengue cases over the last quarter of 2025, reflecting the positive national trend.

💡 Beyond the article, Dr Poh shares additional context on why we must remain vigilant on dengue:

Historically, major outbreaks (like in 2013 and 2022) have coincided with a switch in the dominant virus strain. The DENV-1 and DENV-2 strains are traditionally more common locally, and our local immunity towards DENV-3 is thus expected to be lower. Although there was a slight rise in DENV-3 cases in December 2025, overall Dengue cases have decreased in 2025 compared to 2024. In light of this, Dr Poh advises that we cannot yet conclude if we are on the cusp of a strain switch, and we must continue to monitor the trends closely.

Let’s celebrate the lower numbers but keep up our guard against stagnant water! 🛑💧

A Morning of Wellness at The Frontier CC 🌟

We recently had the privilege of joining the Seniors Health & Wellness Activities Day at The Frontier CC on 10 Jan, and it was wonderful to see so many familiar faces in Pioneer Constituency !

At HMI OneCare Clinic, we believe that primary care isn't just about treating illness. It's about being present in the community and empowering you with knowledge to make informed choices about your health.

We were delighted to contribute to the event in a few ways:

🔹 Dr Lee Yanqing (Family Physician & COO of HMI OneCare Clinic) gave an engaging talk titled "Stay Strong, Stay Shingles-Free!", equipping seniors with the know-how to protect themselves against Shingles.
🔹 Our team provided blood pressure checks for participants.
🔹 At our booth, we also shared with the residents on the various healthcare subsidies and programs (such as Healthier SG) available to seniors, ensuring that residents know how to maximise the support available to them at our clinics.
