Sorry for the hiatus. Your optometrist is back, so is our annual Sight for Kids programme. We are collecting pre-loved spectacles once again:) your pre-loved spectacles will help children see better. Thank you for your contribution!

Thank you for your well wishes, gifts, prayers, hugs and love. After I started informing my patients that I’ll be on a long break after a surgery, some called me out of concern, taught me breathing exercises and advised me what to eat and what to avoid post op. Some prayed for me, over phone, over texts, in person while holding my hands… I’m so overwhelmed with the affection and support I’m getting. One told me I’m like her daughter to her, another said she’s very worried for my health and has been sending me texts to check on me and her prayers. Thank you to those who told me you don’t mind waiting one month to get your spectacles and don’t mind waiting for me to come back for eye checks. Thank you to all my suppliers for trying to meet our deadlines. Lastly I want to thank my family and friends who offered and insisted on accompanying me to the hospital and back. I am greatly blessed!

Early intervention really helps in childhood myopia. Myopia-control optical products are widely available these days but not all myopia-control spectacles are the same. We have seen many of our young patients who have benefited from such myopia-control spectacles. High myopia can lead to many eye issues like retina tear, which I personally experienced when I was in my twenties. My retina is extremely thin, likely due to myopia and a part of my retina tore out of the blue. Thankfully I sought medical attention in time and had laser treatment done to prevent further damage. I don’t wish any of my patients or my own children to have to go through such laser treatments hence I always recommend myopia-control products and I educate (and nag) at the kids who come to my practice to reduce screen time and increase outdoor time.

It’s the September holidays once again! We will be closed on Wednesday 10th September 2025 to spend time with the kiddos. For the rest of the week, we will still be open for appointments. Have a good break for all the students :)

Dear all, we will be taking a 3-4 weeks break from 6th October 2025 as Hazel is scheduled for a surgery. Our practice will not be open during this period and we apologise for the inconvenience caused.
