That first week home with a newborn is a lot. Even when you think you’ve read all the books, the reality of nursing and late nights can feel a bit overwhelming.

Angie reached out just six days after her baby arrived because she needed some real world support. In just two hours, she walked away with practical tools she still uses every single day while nursing her little one.

It’s feedback like this that motivates us to support more moms to succeed on their breastfeeding journey.

Our goal isn’t to give you a medical lecture. We want to share real nursing tips so you can move from feeling unsure to feeling capable. We cover the basics like how to latch and check for block ducts, but we also recommend you handy tools that make your daily life much smoother once you’re alone.

If you need some real world support like Angie, click the link in our bio to grab a spot or send us a DM if you have any questions at all. We are here to help you feel ready.

You’re in the middle of a packed CNY house during bai nian.
The house is loud. Cousins are running. Tea is being poured.

And suddenly… you hear your child cry.

In seconds, a joyful visit can turn into a stressful situation.

Maybe it’s:
• A curious toddler reaching for a cup of hot tea.
• A tumble while chasing cousins.
• A bump against a marble coffee table.
• A sting from festive flowers in the garden.

You deserve to enjoy your visiting with peace of mind — knowing exactly what to do if something happens.

Here’s your quick CNY pro-tip checklist:

1. Head Bumps
Know the red flags of a serious injury vs. a simple bruise. Vomiting, excessive drowsiness, unusual behaviour? Those are not “just a bump.”

2. Minor Burns
Hot steamboat pots and tea are common hazards. Immediate cooling with running tap water for at least 20 minutes can reduce long-term skin damage.

3. Falls & Tumbles
Busy homes = tripping hazards. Know how to assess swelling, deformity, and when a child needs medical review.

4. Insect Bites & Stings
Swelling can escalate quickly in little ones. Early management keeps them comfortable and prevents complications.

Preparation isn’t about fear.
It’s about confidence.

If you love practical, parent-focused tips like this, join us for our Infant & Child First Aid Workshop.

Our trainer, Klaries, is a certified instructor in First Aid, Infant & Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS). As a new mum herself, she deeply understands the anxiety parents feel in emergency moments — and she equips you with calm, practical, lifesaving skills.

Are you a breastfeeding mom looking for an outfit this Chinese New year?

Here are five tips for you:

1) Buttons: A classic choice, but be mindful if you are a fumbly first-time mom, as they can be slow to undo when you have a crying baby.

2) Spaghetti Straps: These are super convenient as they can be easily pulled down or undone for quick access. Just remember to bring a nursing cover if you prefer a bit more privacy.

3) Zips: Fast and very convenient, but check the material first. Avoid rough metal zips that can scratch your baby’s delicate skin.

4) Stretchy Tube Tops: These offer the fastest access for feeding, but keep a firm grip so you don’t accidentally “flash” a room full of relatives if your child gets too excited!

5) Kimono-Style Tops: Our absolute favorite! They are easy to loosen and pull out for feeding while offering the perfect amount of coverage and elegance.

As such, here is a pro tip: Try the “One-Hand Test.” While wearing the top/dress, see if you can realistically expose the breast and latch your baby using only one hand while holding a fussy infant in the other. If it takes more than 10 seconds to get ready, it might cause more stress than it’s worth during a busy family reunion.

Breastfeeding is natural, but the tips, tricks and techniques are a learned skill. Whether you’re an expectant mom and dad prepping for day one or currently lactating and struggling with pain, you don’t have to figure this out alone. 🤍

Book a session with Rynette, our certified Lactation Counselor who is also a mother of four with 11 years of first-hand breastfeeding experience. She’s navigated mastitis, supply drops, and tandem feeding. She’s here to turn your struggle into a success story.

Dads do you know why hydration support is so important for a breastfeeding mummy?

1. The Liquid Gold Ratio: Breast milk is roughly 87% water. If she is dehydrated, her body has to work twice as hard to maintain supply and her own energy.

2. Brain Fog & Fatigue: Dehydration is a leading cause of the “afternoon slump.” Keeping her hydrated helps her stay alert and emotionally resilient.

3. The Emotional Win: Handing her a glass of water without being asked is a silent way of saying, “I see your hard work, and I’ve got you.”

4. The Connecting Tip: The “One Extra Litre” Rule 🥤 A breastfeeding mother needs significantly more fluid than the average adult. While the standard advice is eight glasses a day, a lactating mom generally needs about one extra litre of water on top of her usual intake to stay balanced.

As such, dads, here is a pro-tip for you: Every time you see the baby latch, make it your cue to refill her bottle and hand it over to her to remind her to hydrate. Add a slice of lemon or some electrolytes if she’s had a long night. It’s the small details that make the biggest difference in her recovery.

Dads, we have all been there. You are standing to the side after a diaper change, watching your wife work her swaddle magic while you feel a little lost, perhaps even afraid of “doing it wrong” and waking the baby. It can be tough feeling like a bystander in those early weeks when all you want to do is help.

Why mastering the swaddle is a must-know for every dad:
- For you, the Dad: It is a way to build your own unique bond and rhythm with your little one from day one.
- For your wife: When you can swaddle with confidence, you can jump into action during those middle-of-the-night wake-ups so your partner can take a break.
- For the whole house: Moving from “I don’t know if I can” to “I’ve got this” lowers the tension for everyone, especially during a crying spell.

Because we want you to feel like a confident dad, here is a pro-tip you can practice tonight:✨The Finger Test for a Safe Swaddle✨
Once you have finished your swaddle, always check the snugness. You should be able to fit two to three fingers comfortably between the blanket and your baby’s chest. This ensures they are secure enough to feel comforted and prevent startle reflexes, but loose enough so their breathing and hip movement are not restricted.

Love this tip? Our WOW Workshop is led by a husband and wife team who have been through it all. Rynette is a Childbirth Educator and Lactation Counsellor who brings the expertise of a mother of four to help you understand newborn care. Jeremy, a hands-on dad who provides the dad’s perspective. He is passionate about equipping fellow dads with the practical skills needed to support their partners through labor and breastfeeding.

“We didn’t know what to expect... and we didn’t know what we didn’t know.”

If you’ve said this lately, please know you’re not alone. That’s the exact headspace Priscilla and her husband were in before they walked into our WoW Prenatal Workshop.

There is a specific kind of “quiet panic” that happens when you realize you’re about to bring a baby home and you haven’t actually handled a newborn before. You’re excited, sure....but..... you’re also staring at a mountain of “unknowns.”

Priscilla mentioned that what actually helped wasn’t just the medical facts, but the real-life parenting experiences Rynette shared. It turned a “class” into a conversation that actually felt relevant.

We’re diving into the stuff that actually keeps you up at night:

✨Preparing your mind and body for labour and birth.
✨The high-stress basics: Breastfeeding and newborn care.
✨The “I need to do this at 3 AM” skills: Swaddling and diapering.

Parenting is a lot of trial and error, but your first week home doesn’t have to be. Come get the insights that turn that “I have no idea” feeling into “I think we’ve got this.”

Let’s get you prepared. ❤️‍🔥

💡Our next session is on 7 March. Grab your spot: Link in my bio.
