Early diagnosis and guideline-directed therapy are critical in Peripheral Arterial Disease (PAD). Increasing awareness and acting early enable timely treatment and optimized secondary prevention, key to reducing the risk of adverse limb outcomes.
Primary care physicians play a pivotal role in raising the standard of PAD care. By following clinical guidelines and performing Ankle-Brachial Index (ABI) measurements in all patients at cardiovascular risk, regardless of symptoms, PAD can be detected earlier, when intervention has the greatest impact.
