Nationwide Awareness Walk, Ibrahim Turay makes history: As the founder and executive director of the Bai Bureh Heritage Foundation, I am thrilled to share my recent and inspiring engagement with Ibrahim Turay, the Executive Director of Youth Chemistry Sierra Leone Ibrahim is a passionate young leader currently undertaking a remarkable journey on foot, traveling from Kenema through Masiaka, Port Loko, and Lungi to Freetown. His mission is both noble and timely, promoting youth empowerment, sustainable development, and spreading messages against drug abuse, especially the growing menace of harmful substances affecting young people across Sierra Leone. During our brief but meaningful interaction, Ibrahim explained that at every community and gathering along his route, he dedicates time to engage with residents, delivering messages centered on the core themes of his journey. He also makes deliberate efforts to visit schools, where he interacts directly with students, inspiring them to embrace positive values and reject the lure of drug abuse. His words reflected deep passion and commitment, as he noted that his walk was more than a personal challenge. It is a campaign to awaken hope, responsibility, and resilience among Sierra Leone’s youth. As a fellow advocate for youth development and social transformation, I commended Ibrahim for this historic and admirable initiative. His determination to use his voice and physical effort to drive national awareness exemplifies the true spirit of leadership and patriotism. We both exchanged contacts to sustain future collaborations in promoting our shared goals of empowerment, education, and nation-building. Encounters like this reaffirm my belief that Sierra Leone’s future is bright when young people take ownership of its progress. Monday, 10th November 2025. Regards, Amb.
