Learning never stops
Its been a great experience to participate a surgical camp for the treatment of urinary incontinence in women at Deynile District hospital, Mogadishu, Somalia.
The surgical team led by Professor Yakubu Ahmed, Dr Salih Eltaher, Dr Beter.
Women in under developed countries suffer in silence due to Urine incontinence.
More than 50 patients benefited from the camp. dignities restored and changed their lives for the better.
Many Valuable lessons learned:
- With limited resources and personnel, life changing surgeries can be done with good results
- Surgery in limited resource setting, History taking, physical examination, Patience and improvisation are the keys to success
- Every patient with Urinary incontinence, has story to share. Listening how their social and economic status is affected, sympathizing with them.
- New medical professionals connected to be kept and followed to improve patient care.
