SOUTH SUDAN MAY END UP WITH BLANK LIBERATION HISTORY BOOKS.

What is happening in our country is disturbing to say the least. Our Country men and women, especially the young generation, are vigorously erasing what is supposed to be a proud history of the liberation struggle.

After long and critical observation, I have realised that most of our young South Sudanese men and women think that history is reserved for the living and the powerful.

They think the dead, the poor and the weak do not deserve a spot in our Liberation struggle history books. They also believe that we can also punish our enemies or the enemies of those we love and support by denying them a spot in our national history.

That to me is wrong and misleading. History is not a privilege of the living and the powerful. Most of our Liberation struggle history was written by those who are no longer among us. Some are dead, others have grown old and powerless! Who are we to strip them of what they rightly deserve simply because we are lucky to be alive!

Even those who no longer agree with us are part of our Liberation history. They were at one point our friends and comrades. We can't rewrite the history because we are powerful and can manipulate the public opinion. Historical contributions are permanent contributions that no one can erase.

I have seen young SPLM cadres calling Hon. Nhial Deng Nhial names. Some have gone to the extent of attempting to deny him his space in the liberation struggle history. That may be out of ignorance. Our liberation struggle history is rich about what to say about William Deng Nhial and his Son Nhial Deng Nhial. The two contributed immensely in our wars of the liberation struggle!

The danger of continuously rewriting any history is that it loses originality and hence loses meaning. If we agree that only the living, the powerful and our friends should have their names preserved in our history books, what will happen if we are no more and our enemies take over?

Will they not erase our names from the history and write their own history from their own point of view. Think about that!

As a rolling stone gathers no moss, a Society that keeps rewriting her history loses her values. Let us be gentle in our disagreements. Let us eliminate emotions and propaganda and give credit where it is due.

Any disagreement today doesn't mean there was no friendship yesterday or there will be no coming together in the future. Let's do everything with tomorrow in focus. Let our young people learn a genuine history. Not the history that only favors a powerful story teller.

Our history is awash with disagreements, betrayal, defections and splits. That is beautiful. It showed that various minds were at work.

People disagree because each one saw something from a different angle, always in the best interest of the National project. The Liberation struggle!

Let's write our history as it occurred. History is not a tool for punishment. It is a genuine spot earned through participation and contributions.

History cannot be erased by death, loss of power, poverty or disagreement. It is something permanently earned through hard work.

Let's preserve a genuine history of our liberation struggle lest we end up with blank History Books of our Liberation Struggle.

Allow me to share this great tribute to Rt. Hon. Raila Amollo Odinga by Professor Angang' Nyongo', the Governor of Kisumu, for the benefit of my readers.

A TRIBUTE TO THE ENIGMA, THE SON OF THE SOIL — RT. HON. RAILA AMOLLO ODINGA

A powerful man has just rested.
A lion has returned to the mountain.
The storm has stilled, but the thunder of his footsteps will echo for generations.

The sun rose heavy with sorrow, the skies paused in reverence, and the land weeps — not just Kenya, but Africa and the world at large. Because a man like Raila Amollo Odinga does not die. No, he transcends. He takes a break. A halftime. A warrior’s rest after decades on the frontline of justice, democracy, and the dreams of a nation.

Raila was never just a politician. He was a movement. A rhythm in our national heartbeat. A voice that thundered in parliament, whispered in prison cells, and sang from the streets of Kibra to the hearts of millions. His was a life poured out — fully, completely — in service of a better Kenya.

He was imprisoned, vilified, betrayed, but never broken. Never silent. Never afraid.

He stood tall, not because he sought power, but because he was power — the kind that flows from conviction, sacrifice, and the unshakable belief that Kenya could be more. He bore the weight of history, and still had room to carry the hopes of the youth, the forgotten, the voiceless.

And even in the harshest political storms, Raila remained the eye — calm, focused, unyielding.

To say he is gone feels dishonest. Because a man like Raila cannot be erased by time or death. His fingerprints are on our Constitution. His footsteps are in our polling stations. His fire lives on in every Kenyan who dares to speak truth to power. He is the whisper in the wind that says, "Freedom is near. Keep walking."

Yes — Raila Odinga has just taken a halftime break. And when the history books are written with honesty, his name will not just appear in the margins — it will command the headlines.

Fare thee well, Baba.
The struggle lives on, because you lived.
Your rest is earned, your legacy eternal.
Even the soil of this nation is proud to cradle you.

Governor, County Government of Kisumu

The poor, the down trodden and the common South Sudanese men and women may decide to have one of their own on the ballot boxes come 2026. We have a strong belief that politics is not reserved for the elites.

The people of South Sudan have left their affairs in wrong hands for long. With traditional elites fighting over the spoils of their bad governance, neglecting national development and service delivery, the down trodden will be justified to seek political relevance by forging unity of purpose in the coming elections.

This search for a better political arrangement may involve formation of a new political organization that can meet the long betrayed aspirations of the common South Sudanese man and woman.

We have what it takes to deliver on the long cherished dreams of our people.

If We Must Continue to Exist as a Nation,
We Must Prioritize Our Unity of Purpose Over Petty Selfish Political Victories that Add No Value But Hurt Our National Cohesion.

It is the passion of what we want tomorrow to look like that wakes up the leaders in the morning and keep them awake throughout the other night.
That burning flame fuels our vision for a better tomorrow!

Who can convincingly explain why we must live below poverty line?
We are endowed with resources to live dignified lives.
The politicians may have the explanation!
