In the first trimester of pregnancy (week 1 to 12), ultrasound scan is done to:
1.Confirm pregnancy
2.Check the fetal heartbeat.
3.Determine the gestational age of the baby and estimate a due date.
4.Check for multiple pregnancies.
5.Examine the placenta, uterus, ovaries, and cervix
6.Diagnose an ectopic pregnancy (when the fetus does not attach to the uterus).
7.Look for any abnormal growth in the fetus.

In the second trimester (13 to 27 weeks) and the third trimester (28 to 40 weeks or birth), an ultrasound is done to:
1. Monitor the fetus’ growth and position (cephalic, breech or transverse).
2. Determine the baby’s gender(24 weeks).
3. Confirm multiple pregnancies (Twin pregnancy).
4. Look at the placenta to check for problems, such as placenta previa (when the placenta covers the cervix) and placental abruption (when the placenta separates from the uterus prior to delivery).
5. Check for characteristics of Down syndrome (normally done between 13 and 14 weeks).
6. Check for congenital abnormalities or birth defects.
7. Examine the fetus for structural abnormalities or blood flow problems.
8. Monitor the levels of amniotic fluid.
9.Diagnose problems with the ovaries or uterus, such as pregnancy tumors.
10.Measure the length of the cervix.
11.Confirm an intrauterine fetal death.
We are committed in providing you with the best service.

Ultrasound scan is an excellent tool to confirm the location of an intrauterine device (Loop). You can go for an ultrasound scan after insertion to confirm placement or during the life of the IUD (Loop).

Reasons for checking placement of an the Loop through an ultrasound scan:

1.To confirm if the Loop have been correctly placed.
2. If you are experiencing unexpected menstrual bleeding
3.If you are unable to locate strings
4.If you are experiencing abnormal cramping and pain

Polycystic o***y syndrome (PCOS) is a common condition that affects how a woman's ovaries work.
The 3 main features of PCOS are:

irregular periods – which means your ovaries do not regularly release eggs (ovulation)

excess androgen – high levels of "male" hormones in your body, which may cause physical signs such as excess facial or body hair

polycystic ovaries – your ovaries become enlarged and contain many fluid-filled sacs (follicles) that surround the eggs (but despite the name, you do not actually have cysts if you have PCOS)

If you have at least 2 of these features, you may be diagnosed with PCOS.

Polycystic ovaries

Polycystic ovaries contain a large number of harmless follicles that are up to 8mm (approximately 0.3in) in size.
The follicles are underdeveloped sacs in which eggs develop. In PCOS, these sacs are often unable to release an egg, which means ovulation does not take place.
It's difficult to know exactly how many women have PCOS, but it's thought to be
More than half of these women do not have any symptoms.

Symptoms of polycystic o***y syndrome (PCOS)

If you have signs and symptoms of PCOS, they'll usually become apparent during your late teens or early 20s.
They can include:

irregular periods or no periods at all

difficulty getting pregnant as a result of irregular ovulation or failure to ovulate

excessive hair growth (hirsutism) – usually on the face, chest, back or buttocks

weight gain

thinning hair and hair loss from the head

oily skin or acne

PCOS is also associated with an increased risk of developing health problems in later life, such as type 2 diabetes and high cholesterol levels.

Ultrasound Scan can help diagnose Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome.

Symptoms

A kidney stone usually will not cause symptoms until it moves around within your kidney or passes into your ureters — the tubes connecting the kidneys and the bladder. If it becomes lodged in the ureters, it may block the flow of urine and cause the kidney to swell and the ureter to spasm, which can be very painful. At that point, you may experience these signs and symptoms:

Severe, sharp pain in the side and back, below the ribs

Pain that radiates to the lower abdomen and groin

Pain that comes in waves and fluctuates in intensity

Pain or burning sensation while urinating

Other signs and symptoms may include:

Pink, red or brown urine

Cloudy or foul-smelling urine

A persistent need to urinate, urinating more often than usual or urinating in small amounts

Nausea and vomiting

Fever and chills if an infection is present

Many women have ovarian cysts at some time. Most ovarian cysts present little or no discomfort and are harmless. The majority disappears without treatment within a few months.
However, ovarian cysts — especially those that have ruptured — can cause serious symptoms. To protect your health, get regular pelvic exams and know the symptoms that can signal a potentially serious problem.

Symptoms

Most cysts don't cause symptoms and go away on their own. However, a large ovarian cyst can cause:

Pelvic pain — a dull or sharp ache in the lower abdomen on the side of the cyst

Fullness or heaviness in your abdomen

Bloating

Ultrasound Scan helps in diagnosing Ovarian cysts.

Fibroids are non-cancerous growths that develop in or around the womb (uterus).
The growths are made up of muscle and fibrous tissue, and vary in size. They're sometimes known as uterine myomas or leiomyomas.
Many women are unaware they have fibroids because they do not have any symptoms.
Women who do have symptoms (around 1 in 3) may experience:

heavy periods or painful periods

tummy (abdominal) pain

lower back pain

a frequent need to urinate

constipation

pain or discomfort during s*x

In rare cases, further complications caused by fibroids can affect pregnancy or cause infertility.

Fibroids can be diagnosed through an Ultrasound Scan.
