Sanjib Biswal is a farmer from Odisha, India, who grows rice and vegetables on 1.2 acres of land 🌾🥕. For years, he relied on traditional farming methods, which often gave low and unpredictable returns. To support his family, he worked as a laborer on other farms and sold goats and chickens to cover household expenses.
In April 2025, Sanjib was selected as a key farmer for a Yard Long Bean demonstration plot, where he learned improved vegetable cultivation practices through the EWS-KT program 🌱📘. Encouraged by the success of the demonstration plot, he began applying these techniques across all his vegetable crops.
As a result, his income from vegetable farming doubled 📈, providing more stable earnings for his household. Today, he proudly stands with his wife, harvesting their cabbage crop and seeing the results of their hard work. The additional income has allowed him to support his daughter’s education, cover the marriage expenses of his eldest daughter, and repair their family home 🏡.
“Earlier, income from farming was never certain, and I had to look for other ways to support my family. After adopting improved vegetable cultivation techniques, my farm now provides a stable income. Today, I can take care of my family’s needs with confidence and pride,”
