I had the opportunity to visit Guangzhou Women and Children’s Medical Center in Guangzhou, China 🇨🇳, to introduce the development and review of international accreditation standards 🌐.
As one of China’s leading hospitals dedicated to women’s and children’s health, Guangzhou Women and Children’s Medical Center is the largest institution of its kind in central and southern China, integrating prevention, treatment, healthcare, research, and education.
📍 Located at No. 9 Jin Sui Road, Tianhe District, Guangzhou, the center operates across five campuses with over 2,400 beds, and enjoys a national reputation in pediatrics.
Key highlights include:
• Ranked 4th nationally in pediatric surgery (Fudan University Rankings)
• Ranked 8th in pediatric medicine, with five nationally recognized key clinical specialties (respiratory diseases, gastrointestinal diseases, surgery, neonatology, and genetics & endocrinology)
• 10 provincial-level key specialties
The center is also distinguished for:
• Heart transplants (18 per year)
• Stem cell transplants (50 per year)
• Gene therapy
• Da Vinci robotic surgery
• Fetal medicine
🌏 International collaborations include partnerships with Boston Children’s Hospital and Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. The center also serves as a national training base for maternal and child health, aligned with China’s Belt and Road Initiative.
To enhance global patient services, the hospital established an International Medical Center, serving international patients and expatriates in Guangdong Province. Its vision is to strengthen the Patient Journey, emphasizing international standards to improve patient experience, clinical outcomes, and long-term sustainability of healthcare management.
