On 21 November 2025, at Meeting Room 1, Office of the Dean, 5th Floor, Administrative Building, the Faculty of Medicine Ramathibodi Hospital, Mahidol University, led by Clin. Prof. Artit Ungkanont, M.D., Dean, together with executives and representatives from various departments, warmly welcomed a delegation from Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich (LMU Medicine).

The LMU delegation, led by Dr. Brigitte Brands, Head of Department of the Executive Board, along with a team of medical specialists from the MUM – Musculoskeletal University Center Munich, visited Ramathibodi to explore opportunities for further strengthening existing academic and institutional collaborations. Discussions included the initiation of joint research projects in Emergency Medicine, Biomechanics, Orthopedics and Trauma Surgery, Basic Research, and other related fields, as well as the establishment of a reciprocal doctor exchange program for both junior doctors and specialists.

On November 17, 2025, the Faculty of Medicine Ramathibodi Hospital, Mahidol University, launched a three-day “Ramathibodi Core Emergency Training for Border’s Medic” program, at the Mae Tao Clinic in Mae Sot, Tak Province, led by Asst. Prof. Suchin Worawichawong, M.D., Deputy Dean for International Relations, and Assoc. Prof. Chaiyaporn Yuksen, M.D., Head of the Department of Emergency Medicine, Asst. Prof. Kasamon Aramvanitch, M.D., alongside Paramedicine lecturers and Ph.D. students. This training program was in cooperation with and financially supported by Mahidol University Foundation Under the Royal Patronage of Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn.
The opening ceremony featured welcome remarks and warm hospitality from Asst. Prof. Ramate Wongwilairat M.D., Director of Mae Sot General Hospital, and Dr. Cynthia Maung, Director of Mae Tao Clinic.
Scheduled from November 17–19, 2025, the training aimed to significantly contribute to local capacity building in emergency care. This collaboration seeks to foster integration and cooperation between governmental agencies and international partners, promoting sustainable healthcare development along the Thai-Myanmar border.
This initiative is aligned with Mahidol University’s strategic plans, specifically Strategy 3: Policy Advocacy, Leaders in Professional/Academic Services, and Excellence in Capacity Building for Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

โครงการนี้ดำเนินการระหว่างวันที่ 17–19 พฤศจิกายน 2568 นี้ โดยเป้าหมายเพื่อเสริมสร้างขีดความสามารถให้แก่บุคลากรทางการแพทย์ (Medic) ในด้านเวชศาสตร์ฉุกเฉิน และมุ่งเน้นให้เกิดการบูรณาการและความร่วมมือระหว่างหน่วยงานภาครัฐและหน่วยงานต่างประเทศ เพื่อให้เกิดการดูแลสุขภาพที่ยั่งยืนในพื้นที่ชายแดนไทย-เมียนมา

Ramathibodi Representatives Join Mahidol University Delegation the trip to Strengthen Academic Partnerships with Chinese Institutions

On November 12–13, 2025, Clinical Professor Artit Ungkanont, M.D., Dean of the Faculty of Medicine Ramathibodi Hospital, Mahidol University, along with Assistant Professor Suchin Worawichawong, M.D., Deputy Dean for International Relations, joined a distinguished delegation from Mahidol University, led by Professor Piyamitr Sritara, M.D., President, on a strategic visit to prominent academic and research institutions in China to advance academic exchange, strengthen institutional networks, enhance existing collaborations, and foster sustainable partnerships.

On the first day, November 12, 2025, the delegation visited Peking University Third Hospital and the Peking University Health Science Center, where they were welcomed by Professor Wang Jiadong, Vice President of the Health Science Center. The delegation then proceeded to the China National Center for Bioinformation (CNCB), affiliated with the Beijing Institute of Genomics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and was greeted by Professor Yungui Yang, Director of CNCB

On the second day, November 13, 2025, the delegation visited Tsinghua Medicine, Tsinghua University, where they were welcomed by Professor Wang Hongwei, Vice President of Tsinghua University.

Throughout the visit, the delegation engaged in substantive discussions with representatives from each institution, gaining valuable insights into their academic programs, research capabilities, and institutional priorities. These exchanges have established a strong foundation for future collaborative endeavors that will benefit both Mahidol University and its Chinese partner institutions. This visit underscores Mahidol University's commitment to international engagement and its dedication to building meaningful partnerships that advance excellence in education, research, and innovation on a global scale.

On Friday, 14 November 2025, the Faculty of Medicine Ramathibodi Hospital, Mahidol University, welcomed a delegation from Kyorin University School of Medicine at Meeting Room 2, 6th Floor, Administrative Building Office. Assistant Professor Suchin Worawichawong, M.D., Deputy Dean for International Relations, together, and Ms. Ladawan Himsoon, Head of International Relations, extended a warm welcome to Professor Annabelle A. Okada, M.D., Ph.D., Assistant Dean of Global Affairs and Professor of Ophthalmology, representing Kyorin University.

The visit aimed to strengthen academic collaboration and explore future partnership opportunities between the two institutions. Both parties engaged in productive discussions on student mobility programs, focusing on enhancing academic exchanges and expanding new avenues for international cooperation. The delegation also participated in a guided campus and facilities tour, which included the Dormitory, Library, and Sports Center, providing an overview of the learning environment and resources available to students.

The visit marked a significant step toward deepening academic collaboration and fostering future joint initiatives between Ramathibodi and Kyorin University.

Ratchasuda Institute Welcomes the Institute of Teacher Education Ilmu Khas Campus (IPGKIK), Malaysia, to Explore Future Collaboration

On November 5, 2025, at Meeting Room 231, 2nd Floor, Administration Building, Ratchasuda Institute, Faculty of Medicine Ramathibodi Hospital, Mahidol University, Dr. Somkiat Leelasithorn, M.D., Director, together with Dr. Sunanta Klibthong, Assistant Director, and Dr. Issavara Sirirungruang, Lecturer, extended a warm welcome to Dr. Faridah Yakob, Director, and her team from the Institute of Teacher Education Ilmu Khas Campus (IPGKIK), Malaysia.

The IPGKIK delegation was given a comprehensive tour of the facilities, including undergraduate program classrooms, the sign language classroom, the Ceramics Workshop and Student Projects, and the Assistive Technology Unit for Persons with Disabilities (AT). Throughout the tour, there were invaluable opportunities to exchange knowledge and experiences regarding academic and educational programs, with discussions focused on support systems for students with disabilities and inclusive education practices that benefit all learners.

Following the tour, both institutes engaged in meaningful discussions exploring potential areas of partnership and mutual support. The IPGKIK delegation expressed their appreciation for the valuable insights and innovative ideas gained from observing Ratchasuda Institute's programs and facilities. They also shared their enthusiasm for adapting and implementing similar initiatives at their own institution to better serve their students.

This meeting marks a significant milestone in establishing a strong relationship between the two institutes. It represents the first step toward building a lasting partnership that will create opportunities for knowledge exchange, collaborative research, and shared best practices. We are confident that this relationship will flourish and lead to meaningful collaborations that benefit students with disabilities and advance inclusive education in both Thailand and Malaysia.

# # # Collaborative Discussion between the Faculty of Medicine Ramathibodi Hospital, Mahidol University, Thailand, and the University of South Florida, USA # # #

On October 29, 2025, at Meeting Room 2, 5th Floor, Office of the Dean, Administrative Building, the Faculty of Medicine Ramathibodi Hospital, Mahidol University, hosted a collaborative meeting with representatives from the University of South Florida (USF), USA. The discussion followed the MOU signing ceremony held the previous day (October 28, 2025), and aimed to outline future collaborative activities under the new partnership.

The meeting was led by Asst. Prof. Suchin Worawichawong, M.D., Deputy Dean for International Relations, together with Assoc. Prof. Siriorn Watcharananan, M.D. and Assoc. Prof. Sirin Apiyasawat, M.D., Assistant Deans for International Relations. Other Ramathibodi representatives included Asst. Prof. Pirada Witoonpanich, M.D. and Asst. Prof. Thitiya Dejthevaporn, M.D. from the Department of Internal Medicine; Assoc. Prof. Nopporn Apiwattanakul, M.D., Assoc. Prof. Sophida Boonsathorn, M.D., and Assoc. Prof. Wiparat Manuyakorn, M.D. from the Department of Pediatrics; and Asst. Prof. Vijj Kasemsup, M.D., Head of the Department of Community Medicine.

From the University of South Florida, the participants included Prof. Lynette J. Menezes, Ph.D., Associate Vice President for International Affairs, USF Health; Professor of Medicine and Associate Dean for International Affairs, Morsani College of Medicine; Dr. Charurut Somboonwit, M.D., Chair of the Appointment, Promotion, and Tenure Committee and Associate Director of the Division of Infectious Disease & International Medicine, Department of Internal Medicine; and Mr. Jesse Casanova, M.S., Associate Director of International Programs, USF Health International, and Liaison for the USF Peace Corps Coverdell Program.

The discussion focused on strengthening academic and research partnerships through joint initiatives in Cardiovascular Sciences (Heart Institute), Neuroscience (Byrd Institute) with emphasis on Alzheimer’s and dementia, Infectious Diseases and Immunology (including virological and vector-borne infections), and Oncology (TGH Cancer Institute).

In addition, both institutions explored opportunities for student research projects during summer programs (6–8 weeks) and potential participation in community outreach programs for medical students and residents, further reinforcing a sustainable and mutually beneficial partnership between Thailand and the United States.

Ramathibodi Discusses Organ Transplant Collaboration with Lao PDR

During October 14–15, 2025, representatives from the Faculty of Medicine Ramathibodi Hospital, Mahidol University, led by Asst. Prof. Suchin Worrawichawong, M.D., Deputy Dean for International Relations, together with Assoc. Prof. Surasak Kantachuvesiri, M.D., Head of the Organ Transplantation Center, visited the Lao People’s Democratic Republic (Lao PDR) to discuss future collaboration in organ transplantation.

The delegation met with Dr. Susath Vongphachanh, M.D., Ph.D., Director of Mahosot Hospital, and Dr. Noot Sengthavisouk, representative from Mittaphab Hospital in Vientiane. During the meeting, the three parties explored potential collaboration under the ISN–TTS Sister Transplant Centers Program and signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) to jointly develop kidney transplantation programs in Lao PDR.

The initiative aims to enhance the capacity of medical personnel, promote knowledge exchange, and strengthen organ transplant services to meet international standards.

This collaboration marks another important milestone for Ramathibodi in expanding its international network and reinforcing Thailand’s role in supporting organ transplant development across the ASEAN region.

ในการนี้ ทั้งสามฝ่ายได้หารือแนวทางความร่วมมือภายใต้โครงการ ISN-TTS Sister Transplant Centers Program และร่วมลงนาม หนังสือแสดงเจตนารมณ์ความร่วมมือ (Letter of Intent) เพื่อพัฒนาโครงการปลูกถ่ายไตใน สปป.ลาว โดยมีเป้าหมายในการเสริมสร้างศักยภาพบุคลากรทางการแพทย์ แลกเปลี่ยนองค์ความรู้ และพัฒนาระบบบริการปลูกถ่ายอวัยวะให้มีมาตรฐานระดับสากล

ความร่วมมือดังกล่าวนับเป็นอีกก้าวสำคัญของคณะแพทยศาสตร์โรงพยาบาลรามาธิบดีในการขยายเครือข่ายความร่วมมือระดับนานาชาติ และส่งเสริมบทบาทของประเทศไทยในการสนับสนุนการพัฒนางานปลูกถ่ายอวัยวะในภูมิภาคอาเซียน

On October 28, 2025, the Faculty of Medicine Ramathibodi Hospital, Mahidol University, Thailand, and the University of South Florida (USF), USA, held a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) Signing Ceremony at Meeting Room 2, 5th Floor, Office of the Dean, Administrative Building, Ramathibodi Hospital.

The event began with a welcome speech by Clin. Prof. Artit Ungkanont, M.D., Dean of the Faculty of Medicine Ramathibodi Hospital, followed by an address by Prof. Lynette J. Menezes, Ph.D., Associate Vice President for International Affairs at USF Health, and Professor of Medicine & Associate Dean for International Affairs at the Morsani College of Medicine, University of South Florida. On this auspicious occasion, Ramathibodi was honored to welcome 2 more representatives from USF as the witness of the ceremony; Dr. Charurut Somboonwit, M.D., Chair of the Appointment, Promotion and Tenure Committee, and Associate Director, Division of Infectious Disease & International Medicine, Department of Internal Medicine; and Mr. Jesse Casanova, M.S., Associate Director of International Programs, USF Health International, and Liaison of the USF Peace Corps Coverdell Program.

After the remarks, representatives from both institutions formally signed the MOU, marking the beginning of a new phase of academic and research collaboration between Ramathibodi and USF.

This MOU serves as a roadmap for sustainable cooperation between the two institutions—fostering student and faculty exchanges, joint research, and educational development to strengthen global medical education and healthcare innovation.

เมื่อวันที่ 28 ตุลาคม 2568 คณะแพทยศาสตร์โรงพยาบาลรามาธิบดี มหาวิทยาลัยมหิดล ได้จัดพิธีลงนามบันทึกข้อตกลงความร่วมมือ (Memorandum of Understanding: MOU) กับมหาวิทยาลัยเซาท์ฟลอริดา (University of South Florida: USF) ประเทศสหรัฐอเมริกา ณ ห้องประชุม 2 ชั้น 5 สำนักงานคณบดี อาคารบริหาร

ภายในงานได้รับเกียรติจาก ศ.คลินิก นายแพทย์อาทิตย์ อังกานนท์ คณบดีคณะแพทยศาสตร์โรงพยาบาลรามาธิบดี กล่าวต้อนรับ และ ศาสตราจารย์ ดร.ไลเน็ท เจ. เมเนเซส (Prof. Lynette J. Menezes, Ph.D.) Associate Vice President for International Affairs, USF Health และ Professor of Medicine & Associate Dean for International Affairs, Morsani College of Medicine, University of South Florida กล่าวแสดงความยินดีและแสดงเจตนารมณ์ในการร่วมมือระหว่างสองสถาบัน

บันทึกข้อตกลงฉบับนี้จัดทำขึ้นเพื่อเป็นกรอบและทิศทางของความร่วมมืออย่างยั่งยืนระหว่างทั้งสองสถาบัน เพื่อส่งเสริมการแลกเปลี่ยนนักศึกษาและบุคลากร การทำวิจัยร่วม ตลอดจนการพัฒนาองค์ความรู้ทางการแพทย์และนวัตกรรมด้านสุขภาพในระดับสากล
