Introducing Dr. Rungpailin “Yam” Rattanacheeworn,
President of the Rotary Club Krungthep Mahanakorn
In a heartfelt act of service, Rotary Club Global Pattaya joined hands with its sister club, Rotary Club Krungthep Mahanakorn Bangkok, to carry out a vaccination campaign for children at the Anti-Human Trafficking and Child Abuse Centre (ATCC) in Pattaya. A medical team and delegation traveled from Bangkok to Pattaya to support the initiative. Through the collaboration of both clubs, this humanitarian mission became a reality. Dr. Rungpailin “Yam” Rattanacheeworn, President of Rotary Krungthep Mahanakorn and a practicing physician, led the medical operations with grace, precision, and genuine compassion.
Q: Dr. Yam, could you please introduce yourself to our readers?
I have been practicing in the field of aesthetics and anti-aging medicine for over 18 years. For the past seven years, I have been running my own clinic in Thonglor, where I personally care for my VIP clients with a strong emphasis on privacy, safety, and the use of only premium, medically approved products.
Q: How did your journey in medicine begin, and what led you toward aesthetic and wellness care?
I completed my postgraduate studies in Practical Dermatology at Cardiff University, UK. From early on, I developed a passion for aesthetic procedures, particularly needle-based treatments such as manual and device-assisted injections, and thread lifting. I realized that this was where my true skill and intuition lay.
Later, I discovered the field of anti-aging medicine, which completely captivated me. It aligned with my belief in holistic wellness—nurturing both the inner and outer self, extending healthspan, and reducing dependency on chemicals or unnecessary medications. The deeper I explored, the more I realized that this science allows us to “unlock” the potential of life in extraordinary ways. It continues to inspire my curiosity and passion every day.
Q: Many people know you affectionately as “Dr. Yam.” Is there a story behind that name?
I believe the name “Dr. Yam” represents my distinctive approach—one that remains deeply rooted in genuine medical ethics rather than marketing strategies. My goal has always been to remain a doctor first, not a businessperson.
I focus on patient-centered care, offering treatments that save time, reduce costs, and deliver precise results, rather than creating unnecessary procedures for profit. My work is highly personalized; I avoid “one-size-fits-all” formulas, respect my clients’ privacy, and never use their data for commercial purposes. Many of my long-term clients have expressed how comfortable they feel knowing that they will never be pressured or upsold—only cared for with honesty and integrity.
Q: What does it represent for you personally and professionally?
For me, it symbolizes stability in values. When you truly know who you are—in my case, a doctor—you must honor that role in its purest form. I believe in practicing medicine responsibly and ethically, without disguising it as a business enterprise.
At the same time, it also means living a balanced life—maintaining my own physical and emotional well-being, nurturing creativity, and giving back to society. That balance is what keeps me grounded and fulfilled.
Q: What inspired you to create your own clinics in such a competitive field?
From the beginning, I wanted to build a clinic that was fundamentally different. Instead of relying on marketing gimmicks, I focused on results—fast, effective, and truly targeted treatments that save both time and money for my clients.
This naturally attracted a specific group of loyal patients who value professionalism, safety, and authenticity over discounts or promotions. Because of that, I have never felt the need to compete on price. My clients come for the quality, expertise, and sincerity they can trust.
At my clinic, there are no sales staff pushing treatments. Every diagnosis is made by me personally. Our focus is medical precision, natural results, and complete transparency—values that I believe will always stand out, regardless of trends or competition.
Q: Were there particular challenges you faced as both a doctor and an entrepreneur?
Indeed. Being a doctor means you should never become a salesperson. My biggest challenge has been staying true to that principle in an industry that often prioritizes profit.
For example, I insist on employing only licensed registered nurses as my assistants, even though that significantly increases operational costs. Many clinics hire unqualified staff simply for appearance or marketing appeal. I cannot compromise on that.
Running a clinic this way may not always align with traditional business logic, but it aligns perfectly with medical ethics—and that’s a challenge I choose to uphold every day.
Q: Could you tell us more about Thomas Clinic and its core philosophy?
Our philosophy is simple yet unwavering: use only the best and safest products—never compromise. We do not follow fleeting beauty trends or adopt procedures unless they are proven to be truly effective and safe.
Every patient is treated by me personally; I never delegate to less experienced doctors. We maintain the highest standards of hygiene and sterilization, which is why only professional nurses are part of my team. Every diagnosis and procedure is performed under strict medical supervision, ensuring accuracy, safety, and trust.
Q: What makes your approach unique in Bangkok’s ever-growing beauty market?
Honesty. My clients know they can ask me anything, and I will give them a truthful, medical answer—even if that means saying “no.”
While our prices are not the lowest, they reflect the uncompromising quality we deliver. I have learned that no single doctor can serve everyone; we are here for those who share our philosophy. As a result, our clinic thrives on loyalty rather than volume.
Even during challenging times like the COVID-19 pandemic, we remained strong because our foundation was built on trust, not trends. We don’t compete by lowering standards or prices; we simply continue delivering excellence.
Q: You’ve dedicated much of your time to Rotary. What inspired you to take on a leadership role there?
It began through the Old England Students Association, where I met a dedicated Rotarian who introduced me to Rotary’s vision of service. Later, I founded my own club, the Rotary Club of Krungthep Mahanakorn, with the mission of conducting 100% charitable projects with no hidden agenda.
I wanted a platform where people serve purely for the good of others—without personal gain or politics—a place where compassion and transparency drive every initiative.
Q: Could you share a Rotary project or experience that deeply touched you?
One of the most meaningful experiences was founding the Vaccine Mahanakorn Project, which provided free vaccinations for individuals excluded from public healthcare, including undocumented migrants and those without identification.
We also donate medical and emergency supplies to rescue units and provide mobility aids to patients in need. These projects remind me how deeply my medical background can benefit society on a wider scale.
Through Rotary, I can extend my care far beyond the walls of my clinic, reaching communities across Thailand. My goal has always been to preserve Rotary’s true spirit—serving humanity without personal benefit.
Q: As a woman in leadership — doctor, entrepreneur, and humanitarian — what advice would you offer young women starting their own journeys?
Be completely honest with yourself. It may take years or just moments to discover what kind of life truly fulfills you—and that vision may evolve over time. Once you understand it, every step becomes more meaningful.
Don’t let societal pressures define your worth. Stay authentic, stay steady, and remember that your values are your greatest asset. Everything else is secondary.
Q: You lead a very full life—professionally and personally. What keeps you motivated, and how do you maintain balance?
I constantly check in with myself, asking whether I am truly okay at each stage of life. No one can ask that question for you as sincerely as you can ask it yourself.
Balancing life’s different “modes”—work, family, rest, and giving back—requires mindfulness. I try to stay present and listen to what each moment calls for. When it’s time to work, I give it my all. When it’s time to rest, I fully rest. When every part of your life is lived with genuine joy, you are always in the right place.
Q: Finally, if you could leave our readers with one message—about beauty, purpose, or giving—what would it be?
Be as sincere as possible in everything you do—in your work, your choices, and your life journey. When sincerity guides your path, you naturally focus on doing your best rather than chasing outcomes.
In that quiet dedication, happiness finds its way to you—not as a goal, but as a beautiful byproduct of living truthfully.
