Here it is another relevant work from our Center of Excellence & Innovation for Oral Health & Healthy Longevity where our postdoc Dr. Pritsana Sawutdeechaikul (Koy) asked the question: can we efficiently create cholinergic neurons from human dental pulp stem cells at high purity rate >90%? These neurons can ultimately have several tissue engineering applications: muscle tissue, exocrine glands, and much more. Many congrats to Dr. Pritsana and the team for this achievement! Here is the paper which is shared as open access:

Dear Salivary Gland Research Colleagues: We would like to invite you all to attend the Asian Salivary Gland Research Society (ASGRS) Pre-Summit Symposium 2025, together with the meeting Co-Chair, Prof. Jae-Yol Lim from Yonsei University, a key leader in the field. This Symposium will be to prepare for the launch of the ASGRS and will take place on Saturday, June 21, 2025 at the Avison Biomedical Research Center in Seoul, South Korea. A welcoming dinner is set for 18.30 on Friday, June 20. This Pre-Summit Symposium represents the 1st significant milestone in our collective pursuit of excellence in salivary gland research across the Asian continent and beyond. Hence, we would like you to join us and build together the future foundations of this new society, the ASGRS. The program follows in the pamphlet below and features the most recent salivary research from Korea, Japan and Thailand with special focus on 4 different themes: (1) Molecular signatures and microenvironment in SG; (2) Innovations in SG research from biomarkers to precision medicine; (3) Organoid platforms for SG biology and translational applications; and (4) Emerging therapeutics: exosomes, biomaterials and organ-on-a-chip. Registration is FREE but must be done via this online pre-registration link by Sunday, June 15, 2025: https://lnkd.in/gn8S3zc3

Our CE most recent work in mimicking oral mucositis in a milifluidic MPS platform was just published at the Engineered Regeneration journal (ranked 7/303 in Biomedical Eng, Citescore 22.9). Here are the HIGHLIGHTS of our work:
• Magnetic 3D bioassembly or bioprinting can promptly produce physiologically relevant multi-layered oral epithelial sheets from human oral keratinocytes.
• Our dynamic millifluidic system can generate an oral mucositis (OM) disease model within an organ-on-a-chip from bioprinted oral epithelium after 5-fluorouracil (5FU) chemotherapy drug perfusion.
• This millifluidic system was meaningful to confirm the effects of our in-house plant-produced EGF towards the promotion of epithelial migration in wound healing, mitigation of oxidative stress and reduction of DNA damage on the bioengineerined OM-on-a-chip in the presence of Fusobacterium nucleatum (Fn), an OM-associated pathogen.
• P-EGF may constitute a promising therapeutic modality to quickly promote oral re-epithelialization and wound healing.
Our many thanks to Tien Truong, Toan Van Phan, Yamin Oo, Oranart Matangkasombut, Glauco Souza, Silvia Scaglione, Maurizio Aiello, React4life, Waranyoo Pang Phoolcharoen (Baiya Phytopharm), Supansa Yodmuang, Faculty of Dentistry, Chulalongkorn University, NUS Faculty of Dentistry and many others for coming together to support this project! Also, thank you to our funders, in particular the International Association for Dental, Oral, and Craniofacial Research and their 2022 Innovation in Oral Care Award!
