In April 2015, two guests from Italy offered me a paper guestbook and wrote the first texts in it. I have been inviting all my guests to do the same thing since then and almost all did.

When the first guestbook was full, I opened a photo album that I also got as a gift from guests as my guestbook vol. 2 and after this one was full as well, I bought a little booklet as guestbook vol. 3.

Now I have scanned everything and uploaded it to my Google Photos account:

I have not been hosting any travelers for more than a year now. Traveling to and around Thailand did generally decrease a lot. Borders were closed in April 2020 and partly reopened a few months later, but with a lot of requirements incl. two weeks of mandatory quarantine in special hotels that budget travelers can usually not afford.

Life on Koh Phangan is mostly quiet and now even more beautiful without lots of visitors. Recently I bought an inflatable kayak and today I went on a tour from an empty beach!

My name is Beat, I live on Koh Phangan in the South of Thailand and work as Scuba Diving Instructor, when I am not too busy enjoying this magical island together with guests or simply chill and do nothing...

So, welcome to my tropical island life! As a host, I am happy to share it with you for a few days, this is what I have been doing with around 150 happy guests since January 2015. I am independent of any particular hospitality exchange network; guests are welcome to contact me here and also to write a review after their stay.

I live in a studio apartment with a beautiful sea view in the North-West of Koh Phangan. This area is well known for stunning beaches, yoga centers and alternative lifestyle events. It is quite far away from Haad Rin where the Full Moon Party takes place and I don't host anyone who comes here for this party only because this island has so much more to offer.

My hosting style is very people-centered: I usually spend a lot of time together with my guests, we talk together often, we may do some outdoor activities like hiking or snorkeling, visit great places like viewpoints and waterfalls, go out and eat together often. There is not much privacy at my place; mutual respect, trust and authenticity are therefore essential.

I have a big range of interests and like to discover new ones, it's mainly these currently:
photography (also of activities together with guests), scuba diving, snorkeling, hiking and trekking, hosting cool travelers, socializing, technology, cryptocurrencies, didgeridoo playing, movies (esp. sci-fi), live music, beaches (esp. secluded ones), naturism, personal development, fitness, sunsets, chilling.

Staying with me is for free. But you should be able to spend around 100 to 200 THB/day for your own food and some other expenses, I usually provide only drinking water. Your motivation to stay with me shouldn't be to save money but to spend a great time with a friendly local who knows the island very well. My own motivation for hosting is to get to know great human beings from all over the world and discover a bit of their culture and background. I don't have any financial or romantic/sexual interests in hosting my guests.

There is one combined living room / bedroom with a kitchenette that I share with guests, plus a balcony and a bathroom. Usually, I only host one guest at the same time, but if you are two people traveling together, I might make an exception if there is a good reason. For sleeping, there are several options for you: A small couch (too small for most guests), a camping mattress on the floor or half of my big king size bed. You can see what you like best after your arrival here.
