Did you know that play is key for Nervous System Health?

People have a misunderstanding, and the well-being industry often reinforces it, that a healthy nervous system is a relaxed one.

But balance is not the same as relaxation.

A resilient nervous system can move with ease
from rest to action, from focus to excitement, from effort back to ease.

This is where play matters.

Play allows the nervous system to explore activation without threat, to shift states without force, and to find regulation through movement, curiosity, and connection.

And this is just the beginning… it goes even deeper than that…

If this sparks your curiosity and you want to learn more, come learn with me in our next teacher training.

New dates coming soon.

Here’s an active Downward Dog variation - moving up and down, cultivating strength.

As you move, keep one continuous line from the wrists, through the elbows and shoulders, into the spine and pelvis.

The shoulders never come forward to stack above the wrists. Instead, the work comes from pushing the floor away with both the palms and the feet.

To do this, the front thighs - the quads need to really work, and the shoulder blades need to organize and support the arms.

Not using momentum, using strength and moving with attention snd accuracy.

Enjoy!

A little harder to get into,
but easier to stay in.

Urdhva Dhanurasana with bricks under the feet.
I love this variation — will you try it?

If you like exploring these kinds of variations, keep following.
And if you’re in Koh Phangan, come practice with me 🤍

I call this Therapeutic Backbends.

Backbends are essential for the health of the spine.
But when we talk about the lower back, how we do them really matters.

Most people try to go higher by squeezing the butt.
When that happens, the natural curve of the lower back flattens.
And then we are not really in a backbend anymore.
The lower back is no longer participating.

The lower back needs backbends.
Our discs spend most of the day under forward pressure from sitting, leaning, and rounding.
Gentle, aware backbends help support disc health and spinal balance.

This is why I teach Therapeutic Backbends.

As you can see in the reel, I hardly go up and that is completely fine.
Not all backbends should look like this, but therapeutic backbends do.

If you want to learn more, follow me on IG, join my classes or courses on Koh-Phangan, Thailand.

✨Our next course starts very soon on January 19 ✨🙌🏾🙌🏾

Power words by Abraham Hicks.

Every day before getting out of bed, I feel grateful for waking up, for my daughter, for life, health, and more… and then I feel grateful for the day ahead.

I love this practice! It creates such an uplifting feeling to start the day with.

This might be the simplest core exercise I’ve ever posted here.
And it is effective!
Follow the instructions in the reel.
Keep going.
It supports mobility.
You will feel your core!
Enjoy

To be a very good yoga teacher, you need to be an embodied teacher.

That means learning, definitely.
But learning alone is not enough.

Embodied knowledge is built through practice. Through feeling and understanding the poses in your own body.

When knowledge is embodied, cueing becomes clearer, language becomes more precise, and teaching comes from lived experience rather than theory alone.

This is the foundation of the training I’m opening in January.

Alignment Yoga & the Art of Teaching is deeply hands-on.
There is theory, but we learn mainly through practice.
We work with asana alignment, cueing, voice and language, teaching skills, and nervous system awareness, always bringing it back to embodiment.

Because this is how you learn to teach with clarity, confidence, and presence.

Hi, my name is Tal Swissa. I’ve been teaching yoga for over 20 years, and for the past 10 years I’ve been training yoga teachers at Luna Alignment Yoga.

I’ve taught many different populations; studio classes, seniors, corporate settings, yoga therapy, people in recovery, large groups, and private sessions. All of this experience has shaped the way I teach and train teachers today.

I’m opening a NEW training, and what makes it unique is that it is deeply HANDS-ON.

50-Hour Alignment Yoga & The Art of Teaching is not a training where you mostly sit and listen.
There is theory, but we learn mainly through practice.

This training is for teachers who want to:
🧡Teach with more clarity and confidence.
🧡Understand body and asana alignment.
🧡Practice teaching, receive feedback, and grow through experience.
🧡Refine cueing, sequencing, and class design.
🧡Learn hands-on and hand-off adjustments with sensitivity.
🧡Integrate nervous system awareness and polyvagal theory in a practical way.

We’ll work through asana labs, workshops, teaching practice, observation, questions, and feedback; learning by doing, together.
