Highlighting the limitations of current prediction tools for erythrocytosis or von Hippel-Lindau disease, the latest American Journal of Human Genetics (AJHG) study explores the impact of mutations in VHL exon 2.

Using in silico predictions and functional assays, the authors uncovered regulatory splicing elements and implicate RNA-binding proteins—hnRNPF and hnRNPAB—as key regulators of VHL splicing. This work provides new insights into VHL-related molecular pathogenesis.
