ผลการตรวจยืนยันว่า ไพลินอยู่ในภาวะ Feline Aortic Thromboembolism (FATE)
เป็นภาวะที่ ลิ่มเลือดไปอุดตันหลอดเลือดใหญ่ที่ไปเลี้ยงขาหลัง ทำให้ขาขาดเลือดอย่างเฉียบพลัน สูญเสียความรู้สึก และมีความเสี่ยงสูงต่อการเกิดเนื้อตาย รวมถึงอาจเสียชีวิตได้หากรักษาไม่ทันเวลา
เมื่อการวินิจฉัยชัดเจน ทีมสัตวแพทย์จึงเริ่มการรักษาอย่างเร่งด่วนทันที

A Real Case from Hana Animal Hospital | When an Accurate Diagnosis Becomes the Line Between Loss and Survival
A cat named “Pailin” was brought to a veterinarian with a sudden and alarming presentation—both hind limbs were no longer functional, the legs felt abnormally cold, and the paw pads began changing from a healthy pink to a dark purplish color. These signs clearly indicated a medical emergency where time was a critical factor.
After an initial examination at a local clinic, the owner was promptly referred to Hana Animal Hospital for urgent, advanced care.
Upon assessment by our veterinary team, it was found that both hind limbs showed no response to stimulation and no signs of pain perception. Most critically, no palpable pulses were detected in either hind limb, a key clinical finding strongly suggestive of severe circulatory compromise.
The medical team proceeded with a structured diagnostic approach, beginning with radiographic imaging to rule out trauma, fractures, or spinal compression—none of which were identified. An echocardiographic examination was then performed to evaluate for underlying cardiac disease that could impair blood circulation.
The final diagnosis confirmed that Pailin was suffering from Feline Aortic Thromboembolism (FATE)—a condition in which a blood clot obstructs the major artery supplying the hind limbs. This results in acute ischemia, loss of sensation, and a very high risk of tissue necrosis, with a potentially fatal outcome if not treated immediately.
Once the diagnosis was established, emergency treatment was initiated without delay, including:
• Intravenous fluid therapy to support circulatory function
• Medications to dissolve and prevent further blood clot formation
• Close inpatient monitoring under intensive veterinary care
Pailin was hospitalized for one full week under continuous supervision by veterinarians and veterinary nurses. Encouraging progress soon followed. A vascular Doppler examination revealed the return of pulses in both hind limbs. The paw pads, once purple, gradually regained a healthy pink color, and Pailin began to show slight voluntary movement in her legs.
Once her condition stabilized, Pailin was discharged to continue recovery at home with a comprehensive treatment plan, prescribed medications, and detailed guidance on home-based feline physical rehabilitation, carefully instructed to the owner to ensure safety and effectiveness.
Approximately six weeks later, at the most recent follow-up appointment, Pailin was able to walk again, as demonstrated in the follow-up video.
The joy was shared not only by her owner but also by the entire veterinary team.
FATE is a condition that demands both speed and diagnostic precision.
Even a short delay can dramatically reduce survival chances. In Pailin’s case, timely referral, accurate diagnosis, and systematic treatment completely changed the outcome.
