As many of you will know we have been back in the uk for a few months to sort out our house. After a lot of hard work we have finally managed to get our house in the uk signed off by building control. This now means after little bit more paperwork and a spruce up we can get it sold. This will enable us to properly move to France and wave goodbye to the s**t show that Britain is becoming. I know all countries have their issues but for time being, France suits us just fine.

Hotel number five please....
Our last night in Thailand and we are staying next to the airport as we have an early flight tomorrow. We have had an amazing time in Cambodia and Thailand and would thoroughly recommend both, for us though Cambodia wins. It suits us more as its a little more relaxed. We are already planning a return visit 😆

Hotel number 4. We have now travelled to Phuket for a few nights before the flight home. Beautiful hotel set into the hillside. Super steep hills but they pick you up and drop you off with golf buggies. Oh it's such a hard life. Oh I almost forgot, a private plunge pool over looking the ocean and bath on the balcony 😆

We have spent the last few days relaxing in Khao Lak, Thailand. Checked into a wonderful hotel. Great staff and amazing rooms. Shell treated us to a villa on the pool. We have spent time walking down to the beach and around town, soaking up the local culture. We went to an elephant sanctuary where we learnt about how they look after them and we made up food and nutrients to feed them to help with recovery. You are not allowed to touch, bathe or ride the Elephants as firstly its not the right thing to do. And secondly these are all rescue Elephants bought from either logging companies or a circus. One or two of them are afraid of people due to the cruel treatment they have had over the years. One of them still has scars on its legs due to being chained up over its life. They are totally free to roam the forest they live in but are smart enough to know where they get the tastiest food from. We also visited a turtle rescue and breading facility on the Navy base. Hundreds of turtles are released every year to try to help increase the local population.
We still have a week left in this amazing country.

Being self employed isn't all Its cracked up to be. Long hours, hardly anytime off.
Even whilst on holiday Michelle Louise Brookes is taking time out to check in with her clients. Making sure reports are done, Shell managed to find the only work station in Siem Reap International airport and spent a couple of hours working.
We have now reached our hotel in Khoa Lak and shell is still working. Its 21.56 here.
It has taken so much hard work to achieve our goals but it proves that alot of hard work, the occasional calculated risk and a willingness to work until the jobs done means that we can soon be enjoying our life in France...

What a great day/evening at the water festival. Apparently its to celebrate the end of the rainy season and that the main river the Ton Le Sap actually changes direction. In Siem Reap there are boat races between the main Bridges and in the evening under the moonlight flowers are released to express gratitude to the water spirits and to release bad luck and negativity. Such a lovely experience, and we didn't even know it was on.
After the festival we ventured into Pub Street to witness the crazy goings on and tens of thousands of people out enjoying the evening

Hotel number two. Finally a decent day relaxing. The previous couple of days were either travel or recovering from a hangover from the boozy session Stuart Brookes had in Phnom Pen. The main reason for the phnom pen visit was to meet up with a great Friend, Scott and his Wife La. Amazing time catching up with them and it's such a shame we couldn't of stayed longer. Scott, let's not leave it so long next time.
We took the Vet Airbus from Phnom pen to Siem reap which should be approximately six hours. Unfortunately due to the crazy traffic here it took nine.
Dinner in the restaurant and a pint in the bar then bed. Today consists of relaxing by the pool, Michelle Louise Brookes is having a two and a half hour spar session, massage, body scrub and body wrap. We then plan to venture out into Siem Reap as its the Water festival at the moment, this is to celebrate the end of the rainy season. Fingers crossed it is.

As most of you will know we are back in the UK for a while sorting out the last few loose ends. We took advantage of being able to go on holiday as our local airport in France flies practically no where 😅
20 hours door to door. We arrived at our hotel in Phnom Pen in Cambodia this evening and managed a quick dinner and a beer or 2 before heading to bed. No real sleep takes its toll on you when you get to our age 😴 we have 5 nights in Cambodia then a quick flight to Thailand for 12 days. A well needed holiday after all the hard work we have both done in France.

Another good day today. I managed to rope in a few more pairs of hands due to the amount of concrete that needed to be mixed. A big thank to Cameron and Michael for stepping up to help Mark and myself. As we had help I managed to finish off and test the wood fired heating system for the house. Works a treat.
Ready for winter and we can actually see how it performs.

What a difference 24 hours makes. 😆 ready to start concreting the lower parts of the walls. Roll on tomorrow and around ...

What a difference 24 hours makes. 😆 ready to start concreting the lower parts of the walls. Roll on tomorrow and around 6m³ of concrete to be done with our own cement mixer for the full height of the walls.
