Muhammed Köroğlu M.D., et al. reported a case report named «A rare complication of tension band fixation of olecranon osteotomy: Distal migration of K-wire» 10.52312/jdrs.2024.1662 and presented distal migration of K-wire detected nine months after initial surgery in a 46-year-old male patient. This case report showed that physicians should be aware that K-wire fixation could cause severe complications. The patients should be informed about the importance of being closely followed up, and materials should be removed after fracture union is achieved to prevent unexpected complications.

Ming Li M.D., et al. reported a case report named «Ipsilateral above-knee amputation in patient with recurrent dislocation after total hip arthroplasty: A case report» 10.52312/jdrs.2023.1419 and presented a 63-year-old male patient with walking pain and limp has a history of acetabular fracture and central dislocation of the femoral head. . This case report showed that the lack of adherence to critical treatment may have led to the severe outcome of amputation. Therefore, patient education and compliance are essential for both the treatment of hip dislocations and arterial occlusion. Providing key educational messages at the beginning of treatment can enhance treatment adherence, particularly with regard to anticoagulants use. In addition, patients with hip joint dislocation after trauma surgery are the high-risk group of THA postoperative dislocation. A more detailed preoperative plan should be developed. During surgery, the soft tissues around the hip joint should be protected and repaired as much as possible, and the postoperative rehabilitation may also need to be more conservative.

Masatake Matsuokaa, M.D.et al. reported a case report named «Simultaneous medial closing wedge distal femoral varus osteotomy and double-bundle anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction in the symptomatic femoral valgus deformity: A case report» 10.52312/jdrs.2023.1176 and presented a 73-year-old female patient who developed lateral osteoarthritis of the knee with valgus alignment due to chronic ACL deficiency following a twisting injury during skiing. This case report showed that the simultaneous procedure of medial closing wedge DFVO with double-bundle ACL reconstruction in patients with symptomatic femoral valgus deformity demonstrated favorable outcomes at the three-year follow-up. While further studies are necessary to assess the reproducibility and long-term efficacy of this surgical strategy, the results of this case suggest that it can be a viable treatment option for patients with these specific conditions. The simultaneous procedure of medial closing wedge DFVO with double-bundle ACL reconstruction could be successfully performed with a specifically designed anatomic plate using a delicate technique, and yield good results even in an elderly patient.

Recep Öztürk, M.D.and Emin Kursat Bulut M.D. reported a case report named «Cortical hypertrophy in intramuscular hemangioma mimicking bone tumor» 10.52312/jdrs.2024.1604 and presented a 19-year-old male patient with intramuscular hemangioma causing cortical thickening of the bone. This case report showed that intramuscular hemangiomas located adjacent to the periosteum may cause hypertrophic periosteal reactions that mimic a periosteal or parosteal tumor. Contrast-enhanced MRI or ultrasound should be performed for the differential diagnosis of intramuscular hemangioma in cases with suspected osteoid osteoma. Osteoid osteoma should be suspected specifically when a nidus is not found on computed tomography and in patients with atypical symptoms.

Shao-Guang Li M.D., et al. reported a case report named «Conservative treatment of congenital radial head subluxation and non-traumatic elbow locking: A case report» 10.52312/jdrs.2024.1608 and presented a 30-year-old man with sudden onset of right elbow locking. This case report showed that congenital dislocation of the radial head without obvious symptoms can be usually observed, but if symptoms are obvious and it is difficult to reposition the radial head by manipulation, surgery may be indicated. In our case, the radial head deformity involved the radial fossa, causing elbow locking. Release of the bony entrapment facilitated successful manipulative repositioning.

Anıl Köktürk M.D., et al. reported an original article named «Impact of postoperative femorotibial axis on functional outcomes in unicompartmental knee arthroplasty» 10.52312/jdrs.2024.1184 and aimed to compare the functional outcomes of patients undergoing fixed-bearing medial unicompartmental knee arthroplasty (UKA) classified as either varus or neutral based on their postoperative femorotibial angle (FTA), with the goal of evaluating the impact of FTA on functional results. This original article concluded that in patients undergoing UKA, mild varus alignment could yield superior early and midterm functional outcomes compared to a neutral femorotibial angle.

Baki Volkan Çetin M.D., et al. reported a clinical article named «Comparison of local massage, steroid injection, and extracorporeal shock wave therapy efficacy in the treatment of lateral epicondylitis» 10.52312/jdrs.2024.1648 and aimed to compare the clinical outcomes of patients with lateral epicondylitis (LE) treated with local massage, corticosteroid (CS) injection, and extracorporeal shock wave therapy (ESWT). This clinical article concluded that treatment with ESWT was superior to other treatments throughout the study and at the final follow-up. In patients receiving CS injections, the clinical outcomes worsened with time, evidenced by the six-month follow-up.

Mustafa Onur Karaca M.D., et al. reported a clinical article named «Chondromyxoid fibroma: A retrospective evaluation of 31 cases» 10.52312/jdrs.2024.1620and aimed to review a 35-year experience with chondromyxoid fibroma at our institution. This clinical article concluded that intralesional curettage and filling the defect with bone graft or cement were effective for local control in most cases. Curettage alone was associated with high recurrence rates.

Erdem Can M.D., et al. reported a research article named «The effect of papaverine on tendon healing and adhesion in rats following Achilles tendon repair» 10.52312/jdrs.2024.1656 and aimed to examine the histopathological and biomechanical effects of papaverine administered intraperitoneally and locally on Achilles tendon healing in a rat model. This research article concluded that locally administered papaverine has positive biomechanical effects in the early period and exhibits a positive correlation both histopathologically and biomechanically in the late period. Novel therapeutic options may be provided for patients through these findings.

Mahmut Aydin M.D., et al. reported a research article named «A comparative analysis of 3D bioprinted gelatin-hyaluronic acid-alginate scaffold and microfracture for the management of osteochondral defects in the rabbit knee joint?» 10.52312/jdrs.2024.1626 and aimed to compare the radiological, biomechanical, and histopathological results of microfracture treatment and osteochondral damage repair treatment with a new scaffold product produced by the three-dimensional (3D) bioprinting method containing gelatin-hyaluronic acid-alginate in rabbits with osteochondral damage. This research article concluded that 3D bioprinted scaffolds exhibited comparable radiological, biomechanical, and histological properties to the conventional microfracture technique for osteochondral defect treatment.

Fatih İlker Can, M.D. and Burak Şener, M.D. reported an original article named «Cross-leg flaps: A nonmicrosurgical alternative treatment method in complex lower extremity trauma reconstruction» 10.52312/jdrs.2024.1562 and aimed to present our experiences with cross-leg flap surgery, which demonstrates successful outcomes in lower limb soft tissue defects without the necessity of microsurgical intervention. This original article concluded that cross-leg flap method is an effective and respectable option for extremity salvage as a good alternative to free flaps for the management of traumatic complex lower limb defects. This method is simple, provides abundant blood supply to the wound, and does not require microsurgical experience or a good working recipient artery.
