📌Percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy (PEG) is a commonly used procedure to aid patients with feeding difficulties. A flexible tube is inserted through the abdominal wall to the stomach, ensuring that the patient gets adequate nutrition through enteral feeding.
📌Infection, hemorrhage, and peritonitis are common complications that can occur after the placement of the PEG tube. Migration of the catheter to neighboring organs is a rare but potentially serious complication.
📌This case report presents a PEG catheter patient who presented with extensive diarrhea a year after the placement of the feeding tube, without any other remarkable physical symptoms. Although a common non-specific symptom seen in 10-20% of enteric feeding patients, in some cases, diarrhea might solely signal the migration of the feeding tube. Therefore, this complication should be considered in patients with a PEG catheter if other common causes, such as infection and drug therapy, are ruled out.
