Researchers at University College London have identified a new method of immunotherapy that can effectively treat hepatitis B.

According to Science News, in this research, immune cells isolated from the liver tissue and tumor of the patient were used to target an enzyme called ACAT cholesterol. This enzyme is involved in regulating cholesterol levels within cells and is effective in boosting the body's immune response. According to the results of this research, inhibition of the ACAT enzyme strengthens certain immune cells that have the ability to fight the virus and related cancerous tumors and are an effective solution in the treatment of hepatitis B.

New research shows that countries with more cloudy days have higher rates of colon cancer, which can be caused by lower amounts of vitamin D. According to researchers at the University of California, Berkeley, increasing vitamin D levels through exposure to sunlight can help reduce the risk of colon cancer.

"Raphael Cuomo, the head of the research team, says: "We saw a difference in UVB light in the incidence of colon cancer, especially in people over 45."
According to him, "Correcting vitamin D deficiency may reduce the risk of colon cancer, especially in the elderly."

Drugs that regulate blood sugar level and therefore useful in the treatment of diabetes. Antidiabetic drugs are divided into insulins and non-insulin drugs (oral antidiabetic). Most of the drugs in this group do not actually cause hypoglycemia, but rather exhibit antihyperglycemic effects.

a) Oral diabetic drugs

May be used in combination with other groups of drugs or as fixed dose combinations (such as glyburide + metformin, glipizide + metformin, rosiglitazone + metformin, rosiglitazone + glimepiride). Combination therapy is preferred in patients who are not well controlled with a drug.

b) Insulin

Insulin is a hormone secreted from the beta cells of the pancreas. It helps in controlling blood glucose levels. Insulin exerts metabolic and growth-promoting effects in various tissues and has a number of different effects on the human body. Insulin cannot be taken orally because like almost all other proteins entering the gastrointestinal tract, it is reduced to individual parts (amino acid components) and all activities are lost.

According to Medical News, a new study by Italian researchers from the University of Campania has shown that various active substances in micro-algae such as lectins, polysaccharides, flavonoids, polyphenols, peptides and pigments can inhibit coronavirus and use it in treatment programs.

Researchers believe that microalgae pigments, such as carotenoids, may counteract the cytokine storm that is involved in severe Covid-19 by inhibiting the overproduction of antiviral reactive oxygen species and reactive nitrogen oxygen.
The findings of this study also suggest that microalgae supplements in the diet can be used to combat coronavirus infection.

Monoclonal antibodies, a COVID-19 treatment given early after coronavirus infection, cut the risk of hospitalization and death by 60% in those most likely to suffer complications of the disease, according to an analysis of UPMC patients who received the medication compared to similar patients who did not.

Monoclonal antibodies are a type of medication that seeks out the COVID-19 virus in a person's body and blocks it from infecting their cells and replicating. Currently, the U.S. Food & Drug Administration has granted Emergency Use Authorization to two monoclonal antibody treatments, which are given through a one-time IV infusion. This is the same type of emergency authorization given to the COVID-19 vaccines being administered in the U.S.
