Is Sensation Lost After Breast Surgery?
One of the most common concerns before breast surgery is whether ni**le or breast sensation will be lost afterward. In most cases, any change in sensation is temporary. During surgery, the nerves around the breast tissue can be stretched or mildly affected, leading to numbness or decreased sensitivity, but as the body heals, nerve function usually returns over time.
Within a few months, most patients notice a gradual improvement, and full sensation often comes back completely. Permanent loss of sensation is rare, and it’s more likely in cases where large tissue changes or certain incision types are required. With careful surgical planning, nerve-preserving techniques, and realistic expectations, it’s possible to minimize this risk and maintain natural feeling while achieving the desired shape and symmetry.
