Chin Augmentation
In this post, I’d like you to focus on the chin rather than the nose :) because my patient is only in the first week after surgery, and her nose currently looks more upturned and swollen than it will in the long term. Still, it’s clear that she already looks beautiful :).
The size of the chin is very important for achieving profile balance and allowing the nose to look beautiful in natural proportions, yet I often notice that my patients feel hesitant about undergoing chin augmentation. We use two different methods for chin enhancement.
If we need a larger volume, silicone chin implants are very effective and practical for this purpose. So far, I haven’t encountered any significant complications in my patients who have received silicone chin implants, and all of them have been very happy with their results. However, the most common potential issue we might face is the possibility of the implant causing discomfort, which could make its removal necessary.
When less volume is needed, I prefer to use fillers. Fillers may need to be repeated every 1–2 years and can occasionally shift or cause slight sagging, but since they can be dissolved, they are very safe.

Now I am a Fellow of The European Board of Otorhinolaryngology, Head & Neck Surgery.

It’s been quite a journey :). After passing the written exam, the COVID period and the challenges of building my own clinic from scratch made time fly—five years, to be exact. Recently, I received an email reminding me that this was my final chance to take the oral exam.

It turned out to be an enjoyable experience, bringing back memories of my early days as a specialist. Sometimes, filling in a small unfinished chapter from the past brings a quiet sense of peace.

I’m grateful to my family for their support throughout this long process, and to my wonderful girlfriend who accompanied and encouraged me in Vienna.
