🎤 On Friday 7th November, The Diabetes Association of Trinidad and Tobago (DATT) hosted the semi-final round of the DATT Secondary School Debate Competition – “Debate Diabetes: Ignite the Conversation!” 💬🔥

From many impressive entries in the preliminary round, the top 8 schools faced off in a series of thought-provoking debates on important diabetes-related topics. 💙 Their knowledge, confidence, and passion truly amazed everyone in attendance! 👏

After a close and exciting round, the top 4 schools were selected to advance to the finals. 🏆✨

Today, members of our DATT Penal Branch had the privilege of visiting the Penal Presbyterian Primary School to host an interactive Diabetes Awareness session, and provide free blood glucose and blood pressure testing for parents, students, and staff. 🤝

It was a truly rewarding experience filled with smiles, laughter, and meaningful conversations. The students’ curiosity, excitement, and eagerness to learn reminded us just how powerful early education can be in building healthier communities. 💫

A special thank you to Mr. Dillon Sooknanan, our speaker for the day, whose engaging and informative presentation made the topic of diabetes prevention both engaging and inspiring for everyone present. 🌟👏

We also extend our sincere gratitude to the principal, teachers, and staff of the Penal Presbyterian Primary School, as well as the Red Cross Association of Trinidad and Tobago, for their warm welcome and for giving us the opportunity to share in such a special day. 💙🙏

In this inspiring story from DATT’s Voice Magazine, Lower Six Form student Isaiah Ali shares how his internship with the Diabetes Association of Trinidad and Tobago (DATT) transformed his understanding of diabetes and his life

Through the DATT internship, Isaiah not only learned about diabetes prevention and management but also discovered his own prediabetic status, thereby empowering him to take charge of his health and inspire others to do the same.

As we continue to observe , Isaiah’s journey reminds us why education, screening, and early intervention matter. Together, we can make a difference—one story, one test, one choice at a time.
