*International Happiness Day: A Poem of Truth* 🌿

The world tells us to smile, to be strong and bright,
But happiness doesn’t always come into the light.
We wear masks of joy, when inside we may cry,
Yet it’s okay to not feel happy, it’s okay to ask why.
For emotions are deep, and pain’s not a flaw,
We’re human, not perfect, and that’s the real law.

On this day of happiness, let’s honor our hearts,
Embrace the full spectrum, both the good and the parts
That ache in the quiet, that need time to heal,
True strength comes from feeling, from being real.
So give yourself grace, let go of the fight,
Your emotions are valid, and that’s your birthright.

Incorporate frequent, short reading sessions to help build fluency and comprehension.

Encourage the use of assistive technology such as audiobooks, speech-to-text software, or text-to-speech tools.

Break down larger tasks into smaller, manageable steps to avoid overwhelming the child.

Use multi-sensory techniques to teach reading and spelling, such as tracing letters in sand or using magnetic letters on a whiteboard.

Foster a supportive environment that encourages the child to take risks, make mistakes, and persevere through challenges.

Celebrate progress and effort

Dyslexia is a learning disorder that affects a person's ability to read, write, and spell. It is a neurological condition that can make it difficult for individuals to process language, particularly written language. Children with dyslexia may have trouble with phonological processing, meaning they have difficulty breaking words down into their individual sounds and blending them back together. Dyslexia can affect people of all ages and intelligence levels, and it can have a significant impact on their academic and professional success.

It is perfectly okay to not be okay sometimes, and it's okay to cry. It's important to remember that everyone goes through difficult times and experiences a range of emotions. Trying to push those feelings down or hide them can actually make things worse. Sometimes we just need to allow ourselves to feel and express our emotions in a healthy way, and crying can be a natural and cathartic release. It's also important to remember that seeking help or talking to someone about what we're going through is a sign of strength, not weakness.

Floating in water can be a calming and relaxing experience, allowing you to let go of tension and stress. In many ways, the experience of floating can be compared to the importance of mental health. Just as floating in water can provide a sense of weightlessness and freedom, taking care of your mental health can provide a sense of emotional freedom and well-being.

Like floating, mental health is about finding balance and staying afloat. Just as it's important to adjust your body in the water to stay buoyant, it's important to adjust your thoughts and behaviors to stay mentally healthy. This can involve setting boundaries, practicing self-care, seeking therapy, and developing healthy coping skills.

Breaking the silence: Understanding the difference between emotional and physical abuse

As a psychologist, I often see the devastating impact of emotional and physical abuse on my clients. Both forms of abuse can have long-lasting effects on a person's mental and emotional well-being, leading to feelings of worthlessness, depression, anxiety, and even post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

It is important to understand that abuse is never the fault of the victim and that healing is possible. Through therapy, individuals can learn to process their experiences, heal from the emotional wounds, and develop coping strategies to manage the symptoms of abuse.

One of the benefits of therapy is the opportunity to work with a trained professional who can provide a safe, non-judgmental environment to explore and process the traumatic experiences. It can also provide a supportive environment to develop new skills and coping strategies to help manage the emotional and psychological effects of abuse.

If you or someone you know has experienced emotional or physical abuse, it is important to seek help. Healing from the effects of abuse is possible and can lead to significant improvement in one's life. Don't suffer in silence, take the first step towards a brighter future and reach out for help today.

Effective Communication: The Key to a Healthy Relationship and When to Seek Help

Effective communication is the foundation of any healthy relationship. Being able to express your thoughts, feelings, and needs clearly and openly with your partner is essential for building trust, understanding, and intimacy. When communication lines become blurred, it can lead to confusion, frustration, and ultimately, the breakdown of a relationship. One of the key components of effective communication is active listening, and being able to resolve conflicts in a constructive and healthy way.

However, despite best efforts, conflicts can happen, and when communication lines are blurred, it may be time to see a therapist. Therapy can help couples learn new communication skills and ways to resolve conflicts, which can improve their relationship.
