Change and the Power of the Therapeutic Relationship
When COVID-19 began we reacted in different ways, cycling through anxiety, uncertainty, fear for the future and a range of thoughts and emotions that we were perhaps unable to put a name to. Then the shut-down came and we were determined to use it as a time of growth and introspection from which we would emerge as better versions of ourselves.
For us in Trinidad and Tobago life is thankfully almost back to normal ... a "new normal". But with all the home-schooling, work at home and endless Zoom meetings, my guess is that while you set out hopefully and enthusiastically on your quest to find your better you, your good intentions got mired in new obligations and the high expectations put on you by your work, home and family life.
Author Wayne Muller, in his book Sabbath, says it so well: “In today's world, with its relentless emphasis on success and productivity, we have lost the necessary rhythm of life, the balance between work and rest. Constantly striving, we feel exhausted and deprived in the midst of great abundance. We long for time with friends and family, we long for a moment to ourselves.” In this light, I hope you have taken time in spite of all the "goings on", to enjoy a Sabbath and a “refuge for your soul”.
Having experienced my own Sabbath and “refuge for my soul”, I feel re-inspired to help you on your journey to renewed meaning and purpose. In my view, it makes no sense at all living a humdrum and stressed out life when God has given us all the resources we need spiritually, mentally, emotionally and physically to live a fulfilled life in whatever situations we find ourselves.
I have reopened my office and I am here to walk with you for part of your journey. I have used this season well and I feel reenergised and freshly motivated to provide the help my clients need. I have walked where you are walking (for the most part) and my life experience, professional experience and extensive training combine to uniquely position me to help you. I am passionate about doing just that.
I provide a safe, confidential healing environment where, in the words of one client, “you can be clear with yourself.” So why wait? Let’s start that healing journey where you will experience the power of the therapeutic relationship. I provide both in-person and video-conferencing services to individual adult male and female clients and to couples and families. I would love to hear from you.
Call me now at 868 768 6477 or you can send a WhatsApp message to the same number. You can also send me a message through the “Request a Consultation” form on my website: www.trinidadwisecounsellor.com.
