Infected Diabetic Wound 🦶🏽

This patient developed a blister during a hike, which became infected after wearing tight shoes. Despite two weeks of home care with topical antibiotics and cleansers, the infection had already spread to the bone. He ultimately chose to amputate the tip of his toe to remove the infection and prevent further complications.

This is a powerful reminder of how diabetic neuropathy can make injuries go unnoticed until it’s too late. An odor was the first sign something was wrong.

✨ All diabetic patients should have yearly nerve and blood flow testing to identify risks early. Prevention is always our priority.
