Had the privilege of speaking at Signal Hill High School, Tobago, in collaboration with KIND (Kids In Need of Direction) for their End Period Poverty Campaign.

We discussed the menstrual cycle, common symptoms(like heavy, painful, irregular periods)different types of period products, and what to include in a menstrual hygiene bag😆

I’m so happy to see more open conversations about period poverty — it’s real, and it matters.

Special thanks to KIND and Always for donating sanitary napkins to the entire school☺️

✨ Periods are a natural part of life — they should never be shunned or bring shame.

✨ September in China — A Month of Learning and Growth! 🇨🇳
I had the incredible opportunity to spend the month of September in China attending a medical conference focused on improving the quality of healthcare delivery.
As part of the program, I explored elements of Traditional Chinese Medicine, surgical safety practices, and the pathways of the Chinese healthcare system — just to name a few!
My journey took me across Shanghai, Beijing, and Shanxi, where I engaged with healthcare professionals at universities, community centers, and hospitals. Each interaction offered valuable insights into innovation and patient-centered care.
This experience has truly broadened my perspective, and I return home inspired and equipped with new knowledge to enhance the care I provide to my patients.
I was able to visit the Great Wall of China, sommerpalace, the Olympic birds nest stadium in Beijing and ofc the shopping market😬
I am deeply grateful to the Government of China, the Ministry of Commerce, the government of Trinidad & Tobago and my regional health authority for this remarkable opportunity to witness firsthand what the future of healthcare looks like. 🏥🩺🩻⚕️👩🏾‍⚕️

As we end July, here’s some snippets from last Tuesday at awareness. The topic was “How fibroids can affect women and girls👯‍♀️👭”.

It was a beautiful discussion with all the attendees and thank you for the men 🕺🏾that showed up

Fibroids can affect women in so many ways affecting their quality of life:
- missing school, work, social events
-causing depression due to a change in body image
-heavy bleeding, painful periods
-affecting ability to get pregnant
-when they do get pregnant, increased risk of preterm labour, miscarriage, csection and the list goes on and on!

When our communities are educated, our young men and women can change the narrative for our little island ☺️☺️

-Also check out the free clinic on August 3rd, 2025 that will be having😊

July is **Fibroid Awareness Month**, and this topic hits close to home. 💛
So many women right here in Trinidad & Tobago are silently struggling with fibroids — heavy bleeding, pain, bloating, and so much more, often brushed off as “normal.” It’s *not* normal.

In this carousel, I’m sharing:
🇹🇹 What fibroids are
🩸 Common symptoms
🧬 Risk factors for Afro-Caribbean women
💊 Treatment options
🗣️ Why we need to talk about this more

Too many of us suffer in silence. It’s time we raise awareness, support each other, and push for better care in our healthcare system.

Swipe through — knowledge is power.
