🇯🇵2025 "Research and Demonstration Project for Accepting Foreign Nationals Utilizing Regional Medical and Tourism Resources" Seminar

Honored to be invited by Japan’s Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare and the Japan Tourism Agency, our Center’s CEO Ai-Chi Chou🗣️ presented today under the theme “Building Trust, Winning Recognition: The CMUH Experience in International Healthcare.”

She shared with 🇯🇵Japanese government agencies and colleagues in 🇹🇼Taiwan’s international healthcare field how our hospital, though not located in a capital city, has built a trusted bridge for international patients over the past decade—step by step, with dedication and resilience.

🙋🏻🙋🏻‍♀️🙋🏻‍♂️We were truly grateful to see more than a hundred participants onsite, along with many more joining us online.

🫶🏻Truly hoping today’s message resonates with all those who have been working tirelessly behind the scenes in international healthcare.

給馬來西亞、正在跟腫瘤奮戰的小朋友們 🎗️🇲🇾
今天在質子治療中心，我們幫一位來自馬來西亞 🇲🇾的小勇士，辦了一個**「質子治療畢業典禮」🎓🎂**。我差一點在現場掉眼淚。

小朋友在台灣完成了三週的質子治療，質子治療中心特地準備了一個可愛的蛋糕，提前辦個小小的聖誕趴。大家一起拍手，一起唱歌，小朋友一開始有點害羞，後來笑得超開心，雙手拿著「畢業」的小禮物，頭戴聖誕帽跟大家合照。🍰📸
那一刻，他不是「癌症病人」，只是個在台灣完成任務、開心吃蛋糕的小孩。💕
這位小朋友，是透過我們的馬籍校友陳偉健醫師 👨‍⚕️轉介過來的。非常感謝Dr. Tan，願意把病人交給台灣、交給我們，這份信任，我一直放在心裡。💚 也非常謝謝衛福部指派我們是馬來西亞的代表醫院，因為執行新南向計劃，我們才能有機會幫助到更多國際病人。❤️
其實，陳偉健醫師在今年三月已經建議小朋友到本院接受質子治療。但一家人對台灣實在太陌生，也不太清楚「質子治療」到底是什麼。所以延遲了這趟的醫療之旅。
這三週裡，謝謝質子中心的 #林亭君醫師、傅秀雯組長、胡郁珮個管師，兒童醫院 #蘇旻昱醫師、國際醫療中心魏莉婷健康管理規劃師，還有醫療團隊，一步一步陪著他們。
🎯 這三週的質子治療過程：
• 小朋友沒有特別明顯的不舒服
• 每天準時來治療、準時回去休息
• 爸爸媽媽說：「時間比想像中快很多。」
他們從一開始完全不知道台灣有這種治療，到現在，願意站出來幫我們背書，跟其他馬來西亞的家長說：
「原來世界上真的有一種治療，可以多保護孩子的身體，也多給我們一點希望。」

很多人會問：質子治療對小朋友有什麼不一樣？
用很白話的方式說：
• 質子治療像一束比較聽話的光 🔦
• 能量可以比較集中在腫瘤本身
• 旁邊還在長大的正常器官，就比較有機會被好好保護
對還在發育的小孩來說，少一點不必要的照射，未來就多一點完整長大的可能。🌱
而在台灣，在我們中國醫藥大學附設醫院的質子治療中心，這樣先進的治療，跟很多國家比起來，整體費用是相對可負擔、CP值很高的。對要長期打仗的家庭來說，「有效」＋「負擔得起」，兩個都很重要。

今天，看著小勇士抱著禮物、笑著跟我們拍照，也看著爸爸媽媽眼神裡那種「終於有一點安心」的感覺，我很清楚：
我們做的，不只是一次治療，而是一座從台灣通往馬來西亞的信任之橋。🌉🇲🇾🤝🇹🇼
謝謝陳偉健醫師的信任，謝謝這一家人的勇敢、願意大方分享，也謝謝整個團隊，讓我可以很有底氣地對馬來西亞說：
如果有一天，你的孩子或家人需要一個新的選擇，歡迎把台灣、把中國醫藥大學附設醫院的質子治療中心，放進你們的清單裡。也許，它會成為你們生命裡轉彎的一道光。🌈

We were honored to welcome Prof. Dr. Ehfa Safawi, Director of our MOU partner UNIMAS Teaching Hospital, together with his two colleagues, for an exclusive pre-Expo visit. As Sarawak’s leading academic medical institution, UNIMAS Teaching Hospital is an important partner, and our President Dr. Der-Yang Cho and Chief Secretary Dr. Wei-Cheng Chen warmly welcomed the delegation.

#東馬砂拉越最大公立醫院 砂拉越中央醫院Sarawak General Hospital嚴慧文院長一行五人今天參訪，本院周德陽院長親自迎接歡迎。
‼️智慧醫院當中的AI智慧醫療、遠端在宅醫療、精準醫療等特色項目，對砂拉越地廣人稀的地理環境與公立醫院醫療人力負荷過重的嚴峻現況來說，是非常貼近臨床需求的，因此在交流互動時也特別熱絡；而馬來西亞還沒有的質子治療也是這次參訪的亮點🌸 確實可以大大幫助到需要的患者。

We were delighted to welcome Dr. Ngain Hie Ung
, Director of Sarawak General Hospital, the largest public hospital in East Malaysia, together with her delegation of five members. Our President Dr. Der-Yang Cho warmly greeted and hosted the team during their visit.

The group showed strong interest during the exchange, especially in our AI-driven smart healthcare, remote home-care medicine, and precision medicine solutions—innovations that closely address the clinical challenges faced in Sarawak, where vast geographical distances and heavy workloads on public healthcare staff remain ongoing issues.

Another major highlight was our Proton Therapy Center, a treatment modality not yet available in Malaysia and one that could significantly benefit patients who need advanced cancer care.

The delegation was also excited about our AI Nursing Robot, which will make its official debut at the upcoming Taiwan Healthcare Expo. We are pleased to have such meaningful exchanges that help showcase Taiwan’s medical strengths.

This morning, CMUH warmly welcomed Ms. Ainul Zahra Ahmad Razei and Marketing Officer Ms. Wendy Huang from the Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE), and TAITRA representatives Ms. Christine Chen and Mr. Andy Chen ✨

Ms. AiChi Chou, CEO of the International Center, shared the achievements of the New Southbound Initiatives, while 💡 Dr. Wei-Chun Wang, Deputy Director of the AI and Robotics Innovative Center, presented insights on AI Applications in Medicine. The discussion was full of inspiration and exchange of ideas 💬💫

🚀 The delegation also visited the HiThings Tele-ICU (Intelligent Critical Care Command Center), guided by System Architect Mr. Jiun-Yi Lin and Associate Executive Mr. Ching-Yao Chou from the Digital Transformation Technology Office, where they experienced firsthand CMUH’s innovative energy and clinical applications in smart healthcare.

We joined hands with imedtac Co., Ltd. (慧誠智醫) and UNIMAS Teaching Hospital to establish East Malaysia’s first demonstration site for otoscope-based telemedicine.

During the official launch press conference, Malaysia’s Deputy Prime Minister, Fadillah Yusof, paused for quite a while, listening attentively as we explained how this portable otoscope telemedicine device enables convenient and flexible access to remote areas, connecting hospitals and local residents for real-time diagnosis.
