Keep Hydrated! However, sports drinks are full of essential salts, minerals, and sugars; too much of them has a negative effect.

Guidance, for less than 60 minutes of exercise in a gym, no sports drink is necessary. Just Water or diluted juice.

For a 1-2 hour exercise, only 500ml of sports drink is suggested. It's advised to dilute it with water (1:1).

For a 3+ hour exercise, only 1000ml of sports drink is suggested. It's advised to dilute it with water (1:1).

Remember, according to your weight, you should drink about 25-35 mL of fluids per kilogram. Coffee and green tea are diuretics, and it's not advised to count them towards daily fluid intake.

• Essential for heart and muscle function
• Maintains fluid balance and blood pressure
• Interactions:
• ↑K⁺ = ↓Na⁺
• ↓K⁺ = ↑Na⁺
• ↑K⁺ = ↑Mg²⁺
• ↓K⁺ = ↓Mg²⁺

💧 Sodium (Na⁺)
• Normal range: 135 – 145 mEq/L
• Role:
• Regulates blood volume and blood pressure
• Maintains fluid balance
• Interactions:
• ↑Na⁺ = ↓K⁺
• ↓Na⁺ = ↑K⁺

⚪ Magnesium (Mg²⁺)
• Normal range: 1.3 – 2.1 mEq/L
• Role:
• Helps in muscle relaxation
• Supports the immune system
• Controls blood glucose levels
• Important for bone health
• Interactions:
• ↑Mg²⁺ = ↑K⁺
• ↓Mg²⁺ = ↓K⁺
• ↑Mg²⁺ = ↑Ca²⁺
• ↓Mg²⁺ = ↓Ca²⁺

🧠 Calcium (Ca²⁺)
• Normal range: 8.5 – 10.5 mEq/L
• Role:
• Provides neuron stability
• Maintains bone strength
• Regulates heart rate
• Essential for clotting factors (blood clotting)
• Interactions:
• ↑Ca²⁺ = ↑Mg²⁺
• ↓Ca²⁺ = ↓Mg²⁺

Every year 31,300 children under 3 years of age are evaluated in emergency rooms in the U.S. after ingesting a non-food object. And while the vast majority of these objects pass through the child’s gastrointestinal system and into their poop without incident, some do not and need to be extracted.

The number one object? Coins. Coins are, by far, the most commonly removed object from a child’s esophagus (aka our “food tube” - which is different from the airway).

And while older kids might be able to verbally express that something is wrong, it can be particularly challenging to understand when a baby or toddler has swallowed something they shouldn’t have. And some objects are more risky than others.

Objects that can be life-threatening if swallowed, and require immediate medical assistance, include:

🚩Button batteries
🚩High powered magnets
🚩Water beads

Other objects commonly swallowed:

▪️Toy parts
▪️Jewelry
▪️Batteries
▪️Nails/screws/tacks
▪️Hair accessories

Remember, young children explore the world with their mouth so it is extremely important to ensure that these objects are out of sight, out of reach, and kept in secured areas.

⚠️ If there is any suspicion that a life-threatening object has been swallowed, do not hesitate to seek medical attention immediately.

From kitchen scalds to sunburn outdoors, burns can happen anywhere.
During 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗕𝘂𝗿𝗻 𝗔𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗪𝗲𝗲𝗸 (𝟱 – 𝟵 𝗠𝗮𝘆), commit to knowing how to respond:

⛑️Cool the burn under running water for at least 20 minutes
⛑️Remove constricting items (rings, watches, tight clothing)
⛑️Cover gently with a sterile, non-stick dressing
⛑️Watch for signs of infection and seek medical help if needed
