🏥本院胸腔科葉育雯主任，應帛琉傳統領袖南女王 BILUNG Gloria G. Salii 的邀請，於今日在Ngarachamayong Cultural Center，擔任第32屆 Mechesil Belau Conference 癌症主題貴賓講者，分享台灣在癌症預防、早期篩檢與社群合作的實務經驗。
此次大會主題為「Healthy You, Healthy Me, Healthy Us, Healthy Palau」，由帛琉十六州的傳統女性領袖所組成的 Mechesil Belau 主辦，該團體自創立以來，年年召開全國性婦女大會，已成為帛琉推動文化、教育、健康與環境議題的重要平台，對政府政策影響深遠。
葉主任平時常照護來自帛琉的癌症轉診病人，對當地在資源有限下的醫療挑戰深有體會。此次能與帛琉傳統女性領袖直接對話與分享，不僅深化了醫療外交的意涵，也為未來建立更長遠的合作奠定基礎。
除了葉育雯主任，新光醫院團隊此次也有其他專業醫師同時在帛琉國家醫院提供專業醫療服務，包含整形外科郭曰誠醫師與心臟內科蘇富佑醫師，支援當地臨床需求。

Dr. Yu-Wung Yeh from Shin Kong Hospital, was invited by Her Majesty BILUNG Gloria G. Salii, a traditional leader of Palau, to serve as the keynote speaker on cancer at the 32nd Mechesil Belau Conference, held today (September 30) at the Ngarachamayong Cultural Center. Dr. Yeh shared Taiwan’s practical experiences in cancer prevention, early detection, and community-based health collaboration.
This year’s conference theme, “Healthy You, Healthy Me, Healthy Us, Healthy Palau,” was organized by Mechesil Belau, a council of traditional female leaders representing Palau’s sixteen states. Since its founding, the group has hosted annual national women’s conferences, becoming a significant platform for discussing and influencing key issues such as culture, education, health, environment, and governance. Many of their resolutions have gone on to shape national policy and legislation.
Dr. Yeh has long been involved in the care of cancer referral patients from Palau and is deeply aware of the challenges faced by the local population due to limited healthcare resources. This opportunity to directly engage with Palau’s traditional female leaders not only strengthens medical diplomacy but also lays the foundation for sustainable and long-term collaboration.
In addition to Dr. Yeh, other specialists from Shin Kong Hospital are currently providing medical services at the Belau National Hospital, including Dr. Yue-Cheng Kuo, Plastic Surgeon, and Dr. Fu-You Su, Cardiologist. Their support helps address the pressing clinical needs of the local community.
🤝 This marks Shin Kong Hospital’s first official participation in the Mechesil Belau Conference, symbolizing a new chapter in Taiwan-Palau cooperation in public health.
