A 7-day old baby was brought in by first-time mother “Anny,” who reported the baby had a recurring low-grade fever, mostly at night. During the assessment, the doctor noticed some discharge from the umbilical cord and a slightly distended abdomen. When asked to breastfeed the baby, it became apparent that Anny needed some guidance. A nurse gently worked with the new mom on good breastfeeding practices, and how to treat the umbilical cord infection. Three days later, Anny called and reported good progress.
Together in health and hope. 🫱🏼🫲🏽
