It is an independent volunteer-led organization with 20 branches and more than 4,000 active members.

💥 AI-POWERED ULTRASOUND ARRIVES IN DAR! 💥

During SDA Phase 4, 20 midwives from Dar es Salaam received hands-on orientation on the BabyChecker ultrasound — an innovation powered by Artificial Intelligence and designed to save mothers and babies.

The midwives were fully engaged from start to finish, and their reactions said it all:
⭐️ “This tool is essential.”
⭐️ “We wish every facility had one.”
⭐️ “This will save lives.”

The excitement was REAL — midwives were eager, curious, and inspired by how BabyChecker makes ultrasound access simple, fast, and accessible even in low-resource settings. 🚀

From Dodoma to Dar es Salaam, our incredible midwives, clinicians, and doctors have wrapped up Phase 4 — and the momentum has been electric! ⚡️💙

This week, teams strengthened lifesaving skills through SDA theory and hands-on practice, boosting confidence and readiness at every step.

Training is underway in Dodoma and Dar es Salaam, uniting midwives, medical doctors & clinicians to strengthen lifesaving skills. 👩‍⚕️👨‍⚕️🤝

Last week, , with support from International Confederation of Midwives equipped TAMA Branch Leaders in Morogoro with SMART Advocacy skills, transforming midwives into bold influencers shaping maternal and newborn health decisions.

And the moment that stunned everyone?

At Kilombero Sugar Hospital, a remarkable midwife Ramadhan built Midwifery lifesaving manikins from scratch—turning limited resources into practical tools that strengthen skills, boost confidence, and ultimately save lives. When midwives are empowered, they don’t wait for solutions—they invent them.

From 24th to 26th, our Champions—trained in September on the Safe Delivery App (SDA)—are cascading a 3-day intensive, hands-on training to 78 midwives from Dar es Salaam and Dodoma.

This powerful peer-learning model is midwives teaching fellow midwives using the Safe Delivery App, transforming digital knowledge into lifesaving skills for real delivery rooms.

We were delighted to have Jackline Cheruiyot from join us and witness firsthand how midwives are embracing innovation and strengthening maternal care.

has launched a powerful 3 days working session (18–20 Nov) to build our first-ever National Advocacy Tool — a blueprint that will shape the future of midwifery in Tanzania.

With support from International Confederation of Midwives& guided by advocacy experts, the TAMA Executive Committee, and a former Member of Parliament specialising in policy-making, we are developing a tool that will strengthen Midwives influence from communities to Parliament.💪🏽🇹🇿

This is more than a meeting — it’s a movement toward a Tanzania where Midwives are heard, protected, and fully supported.

Every year, thousands of Tanzanian babies arrive before time — fragile, tiny, but full of strength. And standing at their side from the very first breath are Midwives:
💜The first hands to hold them
💜The steady voice that comforts scared mothers
💜The skilled experts keeping babies warm, safe & alive
💜The heartbeat of newborn care in every facility

Today, we honour all preterm babies, their families, and the midwives fighting every day to give them a fair start in life.
