CTCL Project Kick-Off Meeting | 25β26 September 2025
The CTCL Project was officially launched with a focus on advancing research for Tanzanian patients living with cutaneous T-cell lymphoma (CTCL), a rare form of skin cancer. The study will compare 18 patients with 18 healthy volunteers to investigate how differences in the skin microbiome influence disease severity, immune response, and recovery. By applying advanced methods such as genome sequencing and tissue analysis, the project aims to generate insights that can inform improved care and treatment strategies for CTCL patients in the future.
In addition to research, the initiative is dedicated to capacity building by supporting PhD students from the RDTC strengthening local expertise and long-term research capacity.
The launch event, supported by the Good Samaritan Foundation (GSF) and the LEO Foundation Skin Immunology Research Center (SIC), featured an address from the KCRI Director, who reaffirmed the instituteβs strong commitment to mentorship, collaboration, and delivery of impactful research outcomes.
