We participated in the Uganda RMNCAH+N CSO Platform Annual General Meeting (AGM), a space that brings together government, civil society, and development partners to take stock of where we are and chart the path forward.

Among those present were representatives from the Ministry of Health (Uganda) PHEOC , United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) , World Vision, Embassy of Sweden in Uganda, Marie Stopes Uganda , Faith for Family Health initiative (3FHi).

One of the standout moments was the election of new platform leadership and realignment of key priorities for 2026, a step toward more coordinated, accountable, and collective action within the RMNCAH+N space.

The conversations reinforced that real change happens at the community level. Strengthening accountability systems, investing in data, and closing the gaps in access and quality of care must remain at the center of our collective effort.

In Uganda, access to reproductive health services is still largely determined by geography, with hard-to-reach communities facing the highest barriers and the weakest system presence.
Delivering care in these settings exposes a critical gap: last-mile service delivery remains under-resourced, logistically complex, and heavily dependent on outreach models that are not consistently financed at scale. Watch Video: https://youtu.be/d7dyI4TB8RI?si=7T9ezPKHeIjIkATx

We participated in the Quarter 1 partners’ meeting convened by the Coalition to Stop Maternal Mortality due to Unsafe Abortion (CSMMUA), bringing together partners working to advance broader Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) in Uganda.

The meeting provided a platform to reflect on the coalition’s 2026 priorities, align partners under different thematic areas, and strategize advocacy engagements around the Supreme Court Constitutional Appeal No. 1 of 2026 (Petition 10 Judgment).

Partners also contributed insights and experiences to support the documentation of best practices in Reproductive Rights advocacy and SRHR programming led by CEHURD Uganda under the Pamoja Project.

We remain committed to promoting access to safe, quality reproductive health services, strengthen advocacy, and reduce preventable maternal deaths caused by unsafe abortion.

Every woman and girl deserves the power to make informed decisions about her body, her health, and her future. Yet many still face barriers like stigma, distance, cost, and discrimination when seeking essential SRHR services.

A just world is one where every woman regardless of background, identity, or circumstance can access safe, respectful, and quality care.

From police extortion to community stigma, the environment for sexual and reproductive health (SRH) providers has become a battlefield and it is the women and girls of Uganda who are paying the ultimate price.

In Uganda, a silent crisis is unfolding behind clinic doors. Despite Post-Abortion Care (PAC) being a legal, life-saving medical service under national guidelines, the health workers who provide it are […]

We participated in a meeting organized by the Centre for Women's Justice Uganda (CWJU) with support from CEHURD Uganda, focusing on the legal framework surrounding Post-Abortion Care (PAC).

The discussions revealed that many health workers lack sufficient knowledge of the legal requirements for PAC in Uganda. This gap leads to fear, wrongful arrests, extortion, and reluctance to provide care, increasing the risk of maternal morbidity and mortality for women and girls.

Our key takeaway: Health workers must be empowered with accurate information on the current PAC guidelines and legal framework to confidently provide lifesaving services while operating fully within the law.
