impoverished Islanders will finally have a chance to survive. Myende Island is 1.5 hours by boat over Lake Victoria from Entebbe Uganda Africa! Without a doctor, nurse, dentist, meds etc.survival was treacherous! Every thirty seconds a child dies from malaria. On Myende Landing (one of 17 remote fishing village Islands) the death rate due to malaria is the highest in the world! We need your help, prayers, funding, teaching, hospital equipment, volunteers to save "Ugandas' Forgotten People!" If it wasn't for the fulfillment of my "bucket wish list...to see the Silverback Gorillas (Diane Fossey now Dr.Gladys) and Jane Goodalls orphaned chimpanzees on Ngamba Island..I never would have found Myende Landing!"
From my heart I thank each man, woman, teenager, child and toddler who helped build this beloved 4 room hospital! (Just the beginning!) Carrying brick by brick, laying the foundation etc. this Hospital is truly by and for the people. With the donation of 5 acres given by Ronald and Christine (Christine of Blessed Memory) our thoghts became a reality! To the American Heritage School who raised the money to make my dream happen, Mary Moran (Mission Possible) and Unicef for bringing filtered water to 3 of the Islands, Spodak Dental Group, private investors;; you ALL are Angels sent from heaven! Could not have accomplished this without the constant guidance work and efforts of Lilly, Josh, Silver, Martha and Jane Goodall Institute Staff (Ngamba Island.) Ugandan Government, Alonsio, Emma, Johnson, Myende Craft Ladies; MHKI Board of Trustees, attornneys, Family';the list is tremendous. Ahead lies filling the rooms with necessities, staff, meds, volunteers and continued support! We must raise funding for a latrine and staff/guest facilities. With Gods' help all this shall happen and then some. Finally lives shall flourish without the constant occurence of malaria, typhid fever, dysentary, etc. Thank You so very, very much!
