Six-year-old Dayo Favor Joy’s life changed in a moment when a tragic household accident left her with severe burns.

But her story did not end there. Through courage, timely intervention, and dedicated medical care, Dayo survived, healed, and found hope again. After months of treatment and reconstructive surgery, she returned to school smiling and dreaming of one day working in a hospital to help others, just as she was helped.

Christmas is a season of giving, sharing, and cherishing family. For Ayero Cynthia Nsubuga and her daughter, Sinza Alayne Feza Nsubuga, the greatest gift is reaching out to children walking the same path Ayero’s mother once did.

“I have always wanted to help vulnerable people in society. Cancer is close to my heart because I lost my grandmother to it, and I have never forgotten the experience. I wish all these little ones a quick recovery and a Mary Christmas,” Cynthia shared.

I feel good that today I was able to help someone less privileged than me. God tells us to help one another, and it is better to do that than to spend money on silly things when we can help others.” Sinza

Thank you, Nsubugas, for reminding us that true generosity is more than sharing; it’s about instilling values of compassion and humanity in our children, so that the spirit of care begins at home.

Strengthening care where it matters most 🤍👶🏽

Two weeks ago, the Ministry of Health conducted integrated maternal & newborn mentorship and NICU assessments across facilities in the Acholi sub-region.

Yesterday, we welcomed the Assistant Commissioner for Reproductive Health Services, along with a team from the Ministry of Health and Uganda Health Activity teams, as part of preparations for the dissemination of the assessment findings at Gulu Regional Referral Hospital today.

Together, we will improve maternal, child, and newborn health services for better outcomes in our communities.

At 52, Ojera Alex Kinyera’s life changed suddenly when a severe infection left him unable to walk and fighting for his life. After a long hospital journey at St. Mary’s Hospital, Lacor, hope returned through a plastic surgery camp led by Dr. Orlando Antonio and a dedicated team of nine from Bristol, UK.

Today, Ojera smiles again because his pain has reduced, his leg is healing, and his hope is lit. His story here:https://www.lacorhospital.org/ojera-who-married-in-surgery-one-returned-to-stretch-his-leg-at-the-plastic-surgical-camp/
tells that timely care, faith, and compassion can change lives.

🙏 Thank you to the Plastic Surgical team and everyone who made this possible.

In case you missed it, here is a brief highlight of what went down at the Christmas concert of St. Mary's hospital, Lacor Health Training Institute. The theme was "Prepare the way." Several entertainment activities were performed, including a skit, Christmas hymns, among others. All thanks to our talented students, sometimes work without play makes Jack a dull boy. Admissions are ongoing for the January 2026 Intake. Visit our website for more details, and call the numbers provided.

Interns, former and current, who is this nice, ever-jolly, and lovely lady? What is that one thing you want to tell her? If you ever rushed from the wards hoping Janet had kept some food for you, this memory is for you. She made sure none of you went hungry, even on the busiest days and longest nights. Many of you found comfort in her kitchen, where a warm plate of food and her motherly care gave you the strength to keep going. She watched over you like her own children, always ready with a smile, with a meal, or a word of encouragement. Thank you, Janet, and the team
