Today, we are launching the Mass immunization campaign in Omoro district.

The campaign will run in 39 high risk districts of; Abim, Adjumani, Agago,Alebtong, Amolatar,Amudat,Amuria, Amuru, Apac, Bullisa, Arua, Dokolo, Gulu, Hoima, Kaabong,Kaberamaido,Katakwi,Kiryadongo,Kitgum, Koboko, Kole,Kotido,Lamwo,Lira, Maracha,Masindi,Moroto, Moyo,Nakapiripirit,Napak, Nebbi, Nwoya, Omoro,Otuke,Oyam, Pader,Soroti, Yumbe and Zombo.

The above districts were chosen against the background that they lie on the Meningitis belt of Sub Saharan Africa which has experienced frequent outbreaks of Meningitis epidemics leading to high morbidity and mortality.

The campaign targets the age group of 1-29 yrs.

1. Attend all 4 antenatal visits at the health facility
2. Seek for advice during pregnancy

Mental Health, is an issue seldom spoken about in our communities.

What is Mental Health?

Mental health includes our emotional, psychological, and social well-being. It affects how we think, feel, and act. It also helps determine how we handle stress, relate to others, and make choices. Mental health is important at every stage of life, from childhood and adolescence through adulthood

This year, National Mental Health Day is celebrated under the theme "Psychological First Aid"

Psychological First Aid is an approach to helping people affected by an emergency, disaster or traumatic event. This first aid is given to individuals or families and refugees in the first hours, days and weeks following an unexpected adverse event or following a disaster.

The core elements of Psychological First Aid are to promote: safety, calm, connectedness, self efficacy and group efficacy and hope.

UPDATE: we are carrying out a fundraiser for a medical bus. Our objective have affordable and accessible services that will help with early diagnosis or cancer and educate women on how to prevent infant and maternal mortality rates.
