FIBROIDS
Fibroids are noncancerous abnormal growths that develope in or on or around the womb( uterus).
Most women ( about 70% to 80%) suffer from fibroids in their lifetime but may not know simply because fibroids normally don't show symptoms, unless discovered incidentally by a doctor during pelvic exam or prenatal ultrasound.
Symptoms

Causes
1. Changes in genes, many fibroids contain changes in genes that differ from those of the normal uterine muscle cells.
2. Hormones ( hormonal imbalance) ,such as estrogen and progesterone appear to promote fibroid growth. Fibroids tend to shrink after menopause due to decrease in hormone production.
3. Other growth factors ,substances that help the body maintain tissues such as insulin like growth factor may affect fibroid growth.
4. Extracellular matrix(ECM), the material that makes census stick together like motar between bricks . ECM is increased in fibroids and makes them fibrous.
ECM also stores growth factors which causes biological changes in the cells themselves.
5. Race ,common among black women than other races.
