Hello Member,
Hope you’re doing great, we would like to inform you about the success of the UHF conferences that we had in Masaka on the 16th and Mbarara on the 17th this month of Feb 2015.. The conferences were organized by Uganda Health Care Federation and Uganda Private Health Units Association in order to reach out to the various members in the greater Masaka and Mbarara. Presentations were done by Dr David and Catherine Sevier- Executive Director of UHF and CEO of Global Health One, Nina- Administrative officer of UHF , Richard Kabaale - Uganda Private Health Units Association Coordinator and Ritah Namutebi- UHF membership coordinator.
Lots of issues affecting the Private health Units and other health stakeholders in these regions were discussed. These were around Poor Data capturing methods in these areas, Health financing, Operational challenges, increase in the rate of non communicable diseases in these regions, lack of health trainings, CMEs and CPDs, Human resource related issues etc. Many members from around these regions showed interest in joining the Association to become members of UHF in order to benefit from the benefits from the two sister organizations. UPHA coordinator together with UHF delegation, proposed to conduct free trainings for the registered members in these regions in order to improve and add value to the members. Several programs and initiatives were discussed and these included a proposed visit to the parliament to present the various challenges affecting the private health sector in Uganda and also to have regional coordinators in order to better mobilize and organize functions and various programs as they come along. Several partnerships with the World Bank and USAID were discussed and the ministry of health in order to bridge the gaps in private health sector.
