DENSE CORNEAL ULCER:
Today we received a 70yr old female with a dense corneal ulcer due to use of traditional eye medicine. Corneal ulcer is a break in the corneal epithelial surface. There are many different types of corneal ulcers, but they all produce very much the same symptoms e.g, severe sharp pain,blurred vision, photophobia, watery eye, redness etc.
Corneal ulcer can be caused by Traumatic corneal abrasion, Traditional eye medicine, chemicals e.g acids, viral eg herpes simplex, Vitamin A deficiency, exposure etc. Untreated corneal ulcer can lead to endophthalmitis, glaucoma, cataracts.
