FACIAL PALSY
(when one's face suddenly or progressively gets deformed and turns to one side)

This is a treatable condition and USUALLY resolves easily with medical and physical treatment (physiotherapy) combined.
If u happen to find anyone with such a face, demand to meet a PHYSIOTHERAPIST

There is a couple of causes for this, however, in all causes, the nerve that controls movement and strength of muscles on one side of your face is affected. Therefore the strong muscles of the unaffected side "pull the face towards themselves"

Contact us or any physiotherapist for more information and advice on exercise.

Torticollis (tilted neck) especially in children.
,

It's a devastating yet easy condition to deal with.
It may be caused by bad posture in sleeping, injury at birth or while playing, or even for "no good reason"

However whatever the cause, a muscle on one side of the neck develops tension (or simply stiffness) hence pulling the neck to one side.

You can treat your child at home if this is noticed in time. You only need to find a doctor, physiotherapist, occupational therapist or orthopedic officer near you to guide you and you will be ok๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ˜œ

CEREBRAL PALSY: causes

Two words (cerebral for brain/cerebrum; palsy for weakness/movement disorder)

Cerebral palsy is due to brain injury acquired before, during or after delivery. Hence the brain is unable to give accurate instructions to the muscles to coordinate and give the child appropriate postures and movements in the right timing.

The level of disability depends on the extent of the injury.

We shall see how the baby may acquire such brain injuries in the next posts

CEREBRAL PALSY and delayed milestones in children

Cerebral palsy is a disorder which affects postural development and movement leading to delayed stages of child development (or milestones). It causes the child to take unusually longer or be unable to sit, crawl, stand, walk, etc.

The condition is treated by training the child's body to complete the difficult tasks and providing special supportive appliances.

In the next episode, we shall see the causes of Cerebral palsy.
